Just picked myself up a new bike and with the weather warming up I would love to take it out for a spin. For those who bike in Brandon, what are the safest/best routes to take?

In the city, the bike paths around the city are the best way to bike around Brandon  
 
The streets are usually a bit too rough with sand and gravel along the curbs in places.  
 
And watch out for cars. Never assume that they are going to stop at stop signs or crosswalks.  
 
From my house near 34th & Richmond I can ride around the whole city on bike paths except for a short distance on Rosser East. (The construction on First St may mean a detour on streets is necessary)  
 
The route totals about 13 miles or 20K

I would say it depends how you will bike so know your cycling rules and a reminder there are bike stop signs on bike path then focus and keep watching around you for negligent drivers

I like going up and down 34th street. they've got a nice path that runs the whole length. the rec centre golf course is nice. And the areas south of Richmond between 34th and 18th are pretty quiet as far as street traffic goes. There's some nice paths back there. There are some pretty nice tree canopies between 26th and 12th street in the lorne/louise area too. to name a few.  
 
You can also take the oppotunity to get to know your city more, but going out wandering around the city. Take new routes, and find new things along the way.
