Does anybody have experience with transfers in mb housing that wasn't due to an additional family member, medical need etc. I'm in mb housing and lived in the same place for years, my neighbour has proved to be unstable on countless occasions and I'm feeling uncomfortable and at times unsafe. Don't know if this is a good enough reason for mb housing to move me. I've been trying to save up to move in a new apartment but financially it just doesn't make sense right now.

I do have a child

Doubt they would transfer you. You would probably have to file complaints regularly. Then they may move you or them.

I wish they would move said person but they allow my neighbour to stay. I don't want my child to be subject or witness some of the things they have. There have been a number of complaints as well as a lot of police activity. It's frustrating. I want to raise my child and don't want to worry about my child's safety. I've been watching the classifieds but nothing I can comfortably afford right now.

Aside from call their 1-800 and reporting complaints that way and directly to your property manager, if you have already asked for a transfer and never got one, I highly recommend documenting everything from down to the time and date. If you still don't get any where in asking for a transfer (which by the way may not necessarily put you in a better area), you could always go above your property managers head and take your issues and concerns to the residential tenancy branch.  
 
The RTB seems to get property managers to actually act when their is a problem. MB housing is supposedly supposed to have a 3 strike rule but I doubt anyone every follows that.  
 
The other issue with Manitoba Housing, is the high rate of turn around for property managers and the lack of telling a tenant when theirs has changed hands. I've been through 6 property managers in 6 years and every time I get a new one, I seem to end up back at square one with any issues I have.  
 
I too am in the same boat as you, I would move out of mb Housing in a heart beat but I can't afford to live else where so I have put up with the bs.

I was transferred to the area I live in now 7 years ago. The apartment building I lived in was horrendous and I was scared for mine and my daughters safety. I went to my doctor and got him to write a letter stating for mental health reasons I needed to be moved from there. After I submitted the letter and application I hounded them daily by phone and once a week in person asking about the transfer. I also called to complain about disturbances immediately after they happened. I got offered a new place after two weeks; with a move in date a month and a half later.  
 
Keep phoning them, keep on them. They don't like people being a bother.
