On-line shopping....I had a neighbour down the street have 2 boxes from Costco stolen off their door steps....it was a male & female jogger that took them....it was Birthday gifts for their children. My son had ordered something as well and when his parcel came I watched a truck drop it on our doorstep and never even rang the doorbell....needless to say it was a good thing I was home and saw the guy drop it off....and this is one of the reasons I won't shop on-line.

You can ship to the post office if you are concerned about packages being stolen while they're sitting outside your house.

Nowadays use shipping services like UPS, FedEx, purolators etc. it is very rare that parcels go through post office....although when I ordered from sears I had it shipped to my home address & it came in my mail box which I prefer but other places I have ordered from don't ship it that way.

I think decision to have more businesses on the mall is a good decision. We do not want another Town centre in the south part of the city. Christmas time parking is problem in every city and a business can’t make decisions only based on busiest time of the year. It will be problem for a short time. I would like to go to a mall for shopping and see decent number of people around. That feels like this city is alive and they are people really live in here. I do not like to see whole empty parking lot. If it will be problem to park there most days of the year, then they will plan to add more parking spot and that will be a good thing. It means that this city is growing.

Its only at capacity during Christmas shopping, and there's no big draw like Zellers or Walmart anymore,should be less Christmas shoppers, in the past who ever had that big anchor spot at the Shoppers Mall, always brought in a lot of people, but there isnt one now.

if the former Sobeys location is not developed prior to holiday shopping season the mall can use that as overflow parking and run a shuttle back and forth. Or park there.....start your shopping at Canadian Tire and Staples and work your way across to the mall. Treat it like a shopping crawl. Secondly. If parking is the real issue, eliminate the parking. Take the bus! Maybe our great leaders can find creative ways to entice more citizens to use public transit. Stopping right next to Sobey''''''''s. Or improve the bus stop at the other end of the mall. Incent more riders to take the bus to the mall. There has to be creative ways to eliminate cars in the lot. Yes it is hard in the winter. Everybody wants to get out of a warm car and be in a warm store quickly. With the stupidity the season creates it could be a problem of fighting for parking. Or better yet be the first cab company that wants to offer a mall special. You would clean up! I for one will not park my car in a lot where ignorant people can hammer their doors into the side of my vehicle. I plan on employing a teenager as a drop off and pick-up service!!

FWIW, not sure what impact it might or might not have but for anyone that hadn’t noticed the recycling and donation bins that were in the theatre parking lot have been removed.... reason given on a sign that’s popped up at the site is “redevelopment of the Shoppers Mall property.”  
 
Will be interesting to see the lay of the land after Swiss Chalet opens in a few weeks.

That is where at least a few of the new restaurants should have gone. Dinner and a Movie?? seems like a logical choice. Parking would not be the issue it is today, and its only going to get worse once these places open. Why cram everything new into one space, spread things out, make that area a destination that people want to go to, not complain about. Oh well, its Brandon, the decision makers seem to have closed minds, and a single focus...

Is just terrible shebear....especially at Xmas & boxing week...I’m elderly and I had to park on the side street behind the mall during this time of year....no thought was put into the planning of these restaurants it is all about MONEY and not the concern of how people feel....yes it’s nice to have more choices for restaurants but terrible planning....as for the town centre....I for one will not go downtown for fear of being attacked....as there have been too many stabbing etc. happening lately as well as elderly being attacked in their homes during the day!

Is only about 8% of total shopping, varies by country and goods.  
 
Reducing unused parking increases mall revenue. However, may people cannot park, they need a car to aim at. Door dings, fender crunches, broken mirrors.  
 
The mall owners solution? "Park at your own risk".

Is that empty space doesn't pay the bills. The company that owns the mall parking lot pays taxes on the land, as well as upkeep,snowclearing and maintenance for used and unused space. Empty space is a loss for them. They would gain more profit per foot space from tenant rental. I understand that a lot of people are upset with the new stores going up, and the parking problem it creates, but I applaud the malls forward thinking approach,which secures long term success,brings construction jobs to our town,increased tax revenue, and hopefully, rewards local owners of these franchise stores.  
The world just doesn't run on aesthetic parking capability. We had best adjust, as this will be the way future projects are likely to head.

I'm going to give credit to those who deserve it. One thing I will say about ant Sobeys location, including the one at the mall, is they have always provided adequate room for parking as well as wide enough space between the rows of vehicles to make parking a non concern.

Instead of ppl complaining about parking why don’t some ppl try walking it’s never killed anyone before ppl make big deals out of things that don’t even matter if half the ppl who are able to go for a walk didn’t take their vehicles there would be lots of parking for out of towners lots of it has to do with ppl being lazy

What block radius from the mall would you suggest it’s reasonable for someone to leave their car at home and walk from?

it does seem like poor planning but it is done that way on purpose. lots of research has gone into what bring in customers. the lot will always look full and that actually attracts more people to go there. why is the corral centre called the corral? it’s meant to be a nightmare which also causes you to stay longer and walk from store to store

Any radius there is city buses everywhere and people drive around for an hr looking for a spot close to the doors when there is clearly open spots elsewhere what’s wrong with walking a extra couple hundred meters if ppl had any respect they would leave those spots open for the elderly and ppl who really can’t walk that far how do you think ppl who can’t afford vehicles make it do you think they go without food and clothes cause they won’t walk lol

There were no spots anywhere. You could drive to the very end and not find a spot.  
 
No, walking is not a big deal, but finding a spot was.

I know that it might be good business, and I know it’s not my business they want. I go there much less than I did before, I also avoid 18 street. That’s ok for me, and it must be ok for those businesses, they seem to have enough customers to be successful. Thankful no one makes me go there!

Just wait until Shoppers Drug Mart moves in later in the year.

The Corral Centre has plenty of parking.

Ever gone to a mall in a big city on the weekend? Parking lots are packed. I think it’s great that Brandon is growing and businesses are moving in. Great for the city. So you have to walk a little further to the door from your car......worth it!

My husband and I were just there and discussing this. There’s lots of spots left over, even during the busy seasons, that people never use. Even when I worked at Wal Mart back in the day, it was never truly packed. Plus there is also the theatre parking. Maybe with the new restaurants, there will be more people, and maybe more stores. So many empty stores now. Sad.

times when parking will be a a premium will be during peak times, December for one and Saturdays. The rest of the year there's more than plenty of spots. If your worried about parking, avoid going at peak times.

we just went through a christmas season and i did not find parking at all a problem. No more than usual.  
 
And the construction equipment and fencing would have been taking up more space than the finished restaurents will be. I really dont think it will be a problem.  
 
maybe more people are shopping online, reducing traffic. then it is a good business decision for the mall to bring in more restaurants.

from out of town and handicapped (scooter or walker)can't walk the extra steps and I find a lot of people parking in the handicapped spots who are not handicapped and do not have the handicapped parking stickers. When the mall owners start policing and charging the miscreants who park where they shouldn't then maybe the mall will get my business. Don't agree that the smaller parking lot will be a good thing.

yes maybe the owners of the mall are thinking of down the road when online shopping takes a bigger bite out of mall revenues.Look at the recent additions to Mall,Sobeys and Shoppers both stores probably won’t be affected by online retailers.I think I see a trend.

The restaurants will also bring traffic to the mall to some degree. If people are going to one of the restaurants they might be more inclined to visit stores in the mall since they are already there. Have to agree that parking will be an issue at times. But from a business perspective it is a good move.

I have been to the mall around meal times (evenings on weekdays, and mid-day and evenings on weekends). The parking spots on the East side of the mall around the areas where the restaurants are being built are often near capacity. If I'm going into the mall, that's not much of an issue for me, like others have said, other than Christmas time there are always spots somewhere in the lot. But unless they have some sort of protection for the spaces around the restaurants, I could see these spots being taken up by mall patrons and potential restaurant customers going elsewhere because they can't find a convenient parking space.  
 
I sure hope I'm wrong, but I think that at best they are going to lose a significant amount of business just because of this.
