So apparently the mall is open 11am-5pm on Sunday instead of 10am-6pm. What happened?!

It's been 11-5 on Sundays for a long time

You're not the only one that didn't realize the Sunday mall hours changed. I stopped there shortly after 5:00 today and was a bit surprised to see everything was closed.

You were thinking of Walmart Sunday hours

has always closed at 5pm. I believe only grocery stores are open until 6pm.

If you ask me, Manitoba needs to get with the times. In Alberta and Saskatchewan stores will be open on labour day, and those provinces have no such special hours for Sundays.

got to Sask, yesterday (Moose Jaw). All stores were closed at 5:00. A lot of the things we looked at, also said not open stat. holidays.

I just checked the hours for Walmart in Moses jaw, and it's open until 10pm on Sundays.

I think one or ten customers does not make a profitable market. IF there was the need or demand these places would extend their hours.  
 
In retail once a shift I hated was 12 to 9 on Saturday. Ghost town after 6. I hoped that when we opened Sunday we would do the wpg thing and Shut down Saturday Nights and trasnfer some hours. NOPE. This may be a one horse town store hour wise but for the basics like food,house repair needs,clothing etc we have more than enough hours to choose from. These places feel they can make a living and serve their customers with the hours they choose to open. The OP does raise one question for me.  
 
Should that mall take advantage of the Sobeys extra hour traffic along with the tires across the way and try a 6:00 close?

Have you ever been to the mall on a Sunday, in say the first hour? It is very, very quiet. After the first hour, around the food court gets busier, and then it trickles down to other stores. They almost could make it noon opening. There is no demand for earlier than 11. Stores may get 1 or 2 customers earlier than 11. Not worth paying someone for that little demand.

well I was there Sunday and it was not open after 5:00 p.m.
