I have lived in Brandon pretty much my whole life and barely ever had any friends and up to this point I can honestly say I have none. Same goes for dating, almost seems impossible to meet someone. Is it just me or does it seem like it's really hard to meet people in this city?

I've lived in Brandon almost 14 years now and am friends with basically nobody outside of Facebook connections. I've never really dated anybody aside from a few coffee meetings here and there. I've tried online dating, video dating (when it was trendy), matchmaking services, singles clubs...nada. I have as yet to met anybody who demonstrated any sign of attraction to me.

People are out there, but lots are busy scurrying around trying to keep life together. Depending on your economic or age bracket, you may have to frequent certain watering holes or exercise dens. Think of it like being an ecologist looking for a similar kind of cat. Dont look to hard, people notice that. Being happy with yourself is key. Other people may come along. Or not.

I'm really not into the bar scene anymore, and hanging out in gyms doesn't appeal to me. My day begins around 4:00 a.m., so I'm pretty much done in by late afternoon.

It's pretty simple. You need to participate in some kind of clubs or activities to meet people. Brandon is not the problem. Join a sports league like slow-pitch baseball or league bowling/pool. Talk to co-workers to find out what they do to socialize and perhaps get involved. Hell, join a class either at a gym or something like a cooking class even. Go to a paint night at Prairie Firehouse. Go to an event at Boardgame Empire if that might be your scene.  
 
These are all ideas off the top of my head, I'm sure you can do plenty of research as to the kinds of clubs in Brandon. The ability to socialize comes down to the effort put into it, not the city you live in.
