Okay, I know totally my mistake. I was one of the contracts that got transferred to Telus. About 3 weeks ago I went to pay my bill online and selected BellMTS instead of Telus, of course I didn’t notice this at the time of payment. Again, I know my fault. I received my bill yesterday and looked into why I had a past due amount, and found where I paid BellMTS in error. I wasn't worried about it, thought I would just call BellMTS and ask them to issue me a cheque for the payment. I was wrong. BellMTS transferred my money to Telus and told me that it could take a few billing cycles. I'm a little put off I guess by this. Is it not my money? Yes I know I paid them in error, but should the money not have come back to me? Telus reports to the credit bureau and if I wait for the payment that was transferred from BellMTS to Telus I could have a few months of late payments showing. At the end of the day, I will pay the past due part on my own if the transfer hasn't shown up when the bill is due and wait for the transfer, I just found it odd that BellMTS could take my money and give it to someone else without my consent. I know I made the mistake, but if they would have sent the refund to me, I could pay Telus immediately and not take the money out of my savings. I'm surprised the BellMTS can do this? Thoughts?

Likely due to the fact MTS had to give you up to telus and while i understand your frustration... I see it as them trying to help you when you made a mistake.  
 
I'd be willing to bet it wont take months for telus to see that money. It's probably happened so many times the past few months they setup a policy for it.  
 
Again, i understand your frustration but once you pay that bill its no longer your money and MTS is just forwarding it to the proper people to avoid issues.  
 
The "it could takes a few billing cycles" is just to cover their ass in case something does take longer than it should.

Technically you paid mts therefore it is now there money. Honestly I'm impressed they actually decided to forward the pymt to Telus for you. Usually there's just a delay of them returning the funds to you. I'd just be thankful they sent it out at all in a timely manner.

To be fair, NOT doing something about it in a timely manner only serves to seed resentment of that provider. And the last thing they want is to guarantee that a potential new customer will not only not go back, but also tell their friends about the incident (because that is what people do).  
 
Some carriers don't seem to care about that. But I doubt Manitoba is much more than a gap in their coverage between the east and the west that needs filling anyhow.

telus and explain what happened. they likley have a solution even if you have to pay it again and wait for the credit to show up on the telus bill. then your a month ahead.  
 
Thanks to mts for dealing with it, they could have given you a credit on your account and hold it for you till you return to mts some day.
