Has no one seen city employees at the terminal clearing snow and spreading sand?
Plus I'm not sure why the young lady could not get an answer from the city office to do with her fall. What kind of managing is that? Sweep?
If someone falls at a business the very least people get is a phone call inquiring how things are going. " |

Very easy to jump on the "find every fault with my post" bandwagon , when most missed my point entirely !! She emailed them (more than once) and got no answer, im saying that maybe the lady from the OP did report it and like my girlfriends incident, they didnt answer !! Answer to what she was wearing, great running shoes with good traction (she just got off work) .... some of you need to put yourself in someone elses shoes for once in your life and have a little remorse. there is not one good shoe out there that has good traction on ice. " |
|

so you have just stated a good point as to why ice needs to be chipped away or sanded , especially when on city owned property or any other kind of business... " |

I am sure they cannot be every place at one time. They could have been there earlier in the day...and it started to snow/rain...who knows.
But, if I am stepping off a bus, no matter what kind of shoes I have on, I am looking at one I am stepping onto and being very careful. Even being careful, I could fall....but I certainly would not be contacting someone about it, unless I ended up with broken bones and in the hospital.
If as Reid said his girlfriend tried to contact them and was in so much pain, she could not go to work. First of all, get a note from a doctor...is it a sprain, just twisted, etc. She got no reply. Take your letter and go to the City of Brandon office in person. Or, just chalk it up as a mishap and carry on. Edited by Brenda, 2017-09-25 18:50:04" |

in a grocery store on water or a piece of lettuce wold you just brush it off and carry on? Lesson learned? " |

depends on if I was watching were I was walking.
If I was looking at something else and just walking along, well, I guess I should have been watching were I was walking. Think about it, things are on the floor at a lot of stores, you could slip and fall just as the cleaner was coming to clean it up. But, all it takes is being careful, aware of your surroundings and taking accountability. Accidents happen all the time......we carry on.
Everyone wants to blame someone these days. " |

you do live in Brandon right?
So I guess in the winter you don't shovel or clear ice off your 'city-owned' front sidewalk? After all you just said that people need to watch where they are walking.
The city is looking at a residential snow clearing bylaw where residents would have to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. WHY? Oh, no brainer I guess, to keep people walking safe so they don't wipe out!
If you were out with an elderly relative and they fell in a business what would you expect the business to do? Nothing? " |

I am the first one out there shoveling, when it snows. I clear all my property and the sidewalk, sometimes even the neighbors.
But I still watch were I am walking.
When it snows this winter, just message me and come look how clean my sidewalk is. Can't say that about everyone's.
Have you never slipped, had an accident, cloned, so you can be in two places at once? Sometime I clear everything and it is still snowing, so then I go out again later.
So, the city also can't be everywhere at once. Maybe the cleared the bus center and it was still snowing, went to some other city property and will come back and do the bus center again.
But it is only common sense and accountability, which I am mature enough to understand and take blame if I am not paying attention, as I said I did in my first post when I ran into the back of another car. I was told my numerous people when that happened to look into it, as it was against the law to keep your trailer hitch on your vehicle if you are not towing something (I don't want to get into that, if it is a law or not). I did not look into if that was true or not, I took accountability for my driving that day. End of story.
If I was out with the elderly (which I have been), normally any business will have a manager or assistant manager on duty. They would probably be notified. They may or may not offer some help. But if it was an elderly that just fell in a business, why would that business be expected to do anything....they are old, frail, they fall.
