Wondering what people are thinking of the new rules in place regarding not using the east and west arena doors to come in or go out! Lots of upset people last night after the game!! Not sure of the reason they have done this and would like to hear the reasoning behind this.

I wasn't there last night but if you remember the fog last year that was caused by the humidity outside. We had a fair amount of rain over the past few days and was raining at faceoff time. They could have been trying to minimize the amount of humidity coming into the arena area and not have a repeat of last year.  
 
Just my thoughts though.

After the game there was lots of people exiting from the east and west doors of Westman Place and no one was stopping them. I don't know why the Keystone would come up with a rule like that, people have been using those doors to enter/exit for over 40 years. Why is it an issue now?

From what I saw last night the security was trying to stop them from using the doors but people were just going on through them anyway and some very upset. These new rules are in place for all events and not just hockey.

Please note that tonight will be the first night of some new policies regarding entry/exit/re-entry to Westman Communications Group Place for major events, starting with tonight’s Brandon Wheat Kings Home Opener.  
 
East and West Outside Arena Doors will NOT be in use.  
 
The North West Doors to the Stairs linking to the Main Concourse will be OPEN for Public use. For elevator access please use the Canad entrance.  
 
South Outside Arena Doors will be available for ENTRY ONLY.  
 
Main entry points will be the East and West INTERNAL doors off the Main Concourse. These will also need to be used for any exit/re-entry throughout the game.  
 
These new policies begin tonight and will be in effect for all remaining home Wheat King games, concerts, Circus, and major events, in Westman Place moving forward. There will be signage throughout the facility indicating restrictions and access points.  
 
We thank the public for their patience and cooperation.

Just wondering what the reason is for this??

We entered and exited through the south doors to the south parking lot, nobody stopped us or said anything.

The south door is not i:ncluded in this. Just the east and west doors off the arena!

Maybe it's a money saving thing. Less people to watch the doors.

I can't speak with any authority regarding this issue, so take what I say with a grain of salt. However I have been involved with talks of this nature with the facility in the past.  
 
There are 3 likely reasons.  
 
1. Most probable is ticket control. The old system there had major reliability issues, and it was a very easy facility to get into without a ticket. In the events I had been involved with, I had repeatedly suggested limiting access to the north and south entrances. The fewer entrances, the fewer chances of people getting in somehow without a ticket.  
 
2. Liability. The stairs on the east and west don't always have the best lighting. I've known a few people who have slipped on the ice after a game. Could be a safety /liability concern  
 
3. On the topic of ticket control, there's also a chance there is a push from promoters to not allow reentry. I don't know if there was ever pressure for the KC to do this, but it's one of the few venues of it's nature that allows re entry. Limiting doors in which people use could be a way to control tickets in this manner as well. But, I don't know how likely that is

I could see not using the East & West doors as entrance doors, but why couldn't they at least be used for exiting after the game? All the other doors will have more lineups now. Seem like there wasn't too much thought put into this decision.

You are able to exit through all doors at the completion of all shows be it hockey games or concerts etc.

I have attached a photo from last year, we had identical conditions for this years opener and no fog.  
 
This is only a guess.

is happening in arenas and stadiums all around. Most venues also state that once you enter, you cannot exit, then re-enter. Along with many other entry requirements.

The conditions this year were not identical to last season. It was very warm, very humid along with the rain. I recall with the humidity it was around 25C. The HVAC system failed and some will also blame the increased heat from the jets of flame during the player introductions contributed to the fog.

no A/C in Westman Place. It was the weather conditions outside that played the big roll in last years home opener.  
 
The new entry/re-entry requirements would have more to do with security. And is coming into line with other WHL arenas.

there is a lot of entrances exits in that old building.  
Ticket control maybe?.  
 
Coming and going,well smokers are going to be peaved. Soon medical weed users?. Oh well. All I know is a fire exit is q fire exit. No one should be stopping the exits simple.As a entrance. Simple signs on the outside doors. Exit doors only during major envents. Remove the handles if the have them.  
There is lots of security reasons besides fire to have these doors open for rapid leaving of the arena..
