They own the crossing and the rails. If one behaves themselves at their crossing and don't trespass, there's nothing too be worried about.

They focus on rail safety, but CN Police can pull you over and ticket you for any traffic violation. It doesn't even need to be at a rail crossing.

Didn't realize it either until I was talking to a CN Rail police officer one day and he said he enforces the Highway Traffic Act just as any police officer does.

CN Rail police wouldn’t be ticketing down at the CP tracks so maybe they do have better things to do.

they have more power than city cops or rcmp. especially at rail crossings. walk across the open lots over at 6th street and you will be issued a trespassing ticket if they catch you.

They have more power? What do you mean?
Any municipal agencies as well as federal (RCMP) can issues tickets under the rail way safety act. Your information is false.

I have really learned some things from reading this thread. I always thought that the CN or CP police were glorified security guards. Obviously I am wrong.
