John was there ever a time when the cops weren't keeping an eye on drugs in Brandon? I've been around a while and I can say they have been chasing their tale for 50 years plus, bust jail repeat, tomorrow, it will be new faces same old drugs for sale right here in Bugtussel, nothing will change till we change our attitude about drugs, find out why people need this artificial joy that wrecks there lives and kills them, get them counseling treatment rehab education watching for high risk people prone to addiction dry up the demand, because money will keep the supply gong no matter how harsh the penalty's are for trafficking.

The sad reality is there is already some young person filling these shoes pushing those drugs on the steeet again. There blinded by the quick easy money. Brandon is getting worse and worse for drugs these days.

The penalty should be rehab Period. Putting them in jail does nothing but worsen them into hardened criminals. They are addicted to a substance that controls their minds and behaviour. The best thing we can do as a society is to firstly force them into rehab.Some of them(maybe not all) would love to be drug free and productive members of our society if given a second chance.

They don't even use, they just do it for the money.

Of these people are a little higher up in the drug game. These are the people selling to people who have sever addictions. Some of these people may as well, but most people who are addicted to these types of drugs only have the money to scrimp together enough for the next fix. A good portion of these people likely do not even partake in the use of it, they want the money. High risk, high reward!

Change my attitude about drugs? why the hell should I? If people choose to take drugs that's their problem!  
 
If people choose to be alcoholics that their problem and believe me I know a lot of alkies. Not my problem.

People with addictions to drugs and alcohol, and people selling drugs are the one's that are increasing the crime rate in Brandon. That does not concern you?

Of course I'm concerned! I am concerned right now because of a personal situation where we have to watch our backs. The person is hard into drugs and alcohol but wth can I do?  
 
Am I crying that the city/province needs to help this person quit their habit? No!  
I'm not crying on social media that 'something needs to be done' because if a addict does not want to quit, guess what? They won't!  
 
If people are breaking the law just arrest them and throw their carcass in jail!

54 grams between 10 people? About 5 grams a person? That’s nothing, especially over a few months. Very sad.

I say, swim or sink on your own. You cannot force people to stay away from drugs or alcohol. The health care system doesn't even protect people from killing themselves (mental health) so why the big push for people who choose to destroy themselves with drugs??

I have heard and seen people wanting clean needles provided, which I do not neccesarily agree with when diabetics don't get their medicial equiptment provided for free...but not the actual drugs.

with governments paying for drugs and needles for people who need to save their life, as for paying for drugs that destroy body mind and spirit, no way!

I know one of the guys... past life and all.... this isn’t his first time getting charges. Unfortunately he seems to never get any hard time... maybe a year at most. Serial dealer (with parental support). He needs to stop making deals and get hard time (5 plus years).

Your inability to admit the system of jailing drug criminals is not working,is just making it worse, 50 years of jailing dealers here in Brandon, during my adult life time and things never got better, just more organized more violent armed dealers and more drugs, more harmful drugs more drug addicts more people with criminal records that due to limited career options become burdens on society, thanks John maybe after you dinosaurs die off we can try something different, things that are working in county's that saw a failing system and did something about it.

I can only see drug dealers going to jail, meeting other people that are in their for drugs, becoming friends and when they get out, they have a bigger network.  
 
Not sure what the answer to the problem is. You could send someone to counseling and they could sit their and pretend they are listening to everything that is being talked about, do their few weeks of pretending and out they are, the same way. Same as jail.

To us as a society who have lost our compassion for our fellow man. It's true that an addict will only quit if he wants to, but if by showing some caring and concern for someone's son, daughter , father, mother will make a difference to one addict, then I will hold out my hand to them. We were all raised to care about people and some of the comments on here almost make me lose my faith in society. But on second thought..I have stood alone before and I will do it again.

Pretty soon there will have to be government run drug dens all over, hey, with free drugs and new needles for all  
 
You know some people steal groceries because they have family to feed and can't afford to buy. They still get charged by police. I'd rather people feed their kids than shoot stuff up their nose or into their veins.  
 
If my thoughts make me a dinosaur oh well!  
 
Maybe I would feel different if my daughter, son, sister or brother was an addict. Thank you for your passion on this issue

Don't matter! We have had both in the family. And if the addict has the personal will to stop drinking or drugging then they will. Hey, I've witnessed this miracle, yes, with family members I speak from experience

will only work if the user is serious about quitting, and chooses to go voluntarily before the police and courts get involved. As far as the Drug pushers and sellers go - they're not going to give this trade up as there is to much money to be made. The courts may sent them to jail for a period of time, but as soon as they're released, they get back in contact with their supplies and are back in business again. To much money to be made here, which is why our court system is considered a minor inconvience to the pusher. If you have ever traveled abroad, there are a lot of Asian Countries that have signs in their airports that if found guilty of being in possession of drugs it means a death sentence. The President of the Phillipines won the election last year based on a platform that he would clean up the drug trade. If caught selling drugs there is no trial - you are executed within 48 hours. Within the last year he has executed a large number of drug dealers. Canada needs to take a tougher stance on the drug dealers once the dealers are gone the problem will rectify itself.
