Read through my comment and thought I would add just a final thought. I mentioned collusion in my comment and I also mentioned restocking of fuel. In the last go round with higher prices, the price in Winnipeg dropped, and if memory doesn''t fail me it was over 11 days before prices in Brandon came down, and I find it almost impossible to believe that no gas station restocked supplies in those 11 days, especially when the price does usually rise within two days of an increase in Winnipeg.  
As for asking government to look into any price manipulation, I gave up on that idea when the government was asked to look into cattle pricing during the BSE fiasco in 2003.

The government will do nothing - if prices are high they make more money in taxes aswell so not a chance they will step in. As in restocking - I filled up for $ 1.04 on Monday in Winnipeg and have seen tankers refilling tanks in several stations in Brandon so no matter what we say here it will never change just because they can and there is no competition - at least in Winnipeg you have domo and Costco who sometimes start a gas war

Buy your gas at the Co-op tonight 112.9.  
Boycott all the other places that are still at 117.9.

Heritage Co-op gas was still 117.9 here an hour ago.  
Now that's annoying, just like the way they charge 40 cents more here for a litre of milk than at the Brandon store.  
Talk about gouging. They do it because they know they can get away with it, no competition. Sometimes it sucks to live out in the boonies.

Which is the usual...they want to put it up from 99 cents to $1.10 but thats to big of a bump...so they spike it up to $1.17 for a week and then drop it to $1.10 and everyones happy.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Brandon got an Urban Reserve with a gas bar, and they worked with the price of Winnepeg prices plus two cents, take a two day lag time at each end of increases and decreases. Something makes me think it would be a pretty busy place, and might attract the loyalty of a large group of people, well, it's just a thought.

I know with The Pas vs OCN (across the Saskatchewan River) for gas prices, the gas price is actually the same. So having an urban reserve in Brandon with a gas station at the location wouldn't make a difference.

The point of my comment is that maybe there would be someone who wanted to play a different game. I don't believe that prices should be greater than the price in Winnipeg by more than the price of freight. Prices rise in Beandon about two days after they rise in Winnipeg, which by logical thinking should mean they drop about two days after a decline in Winnipeg, not the usual 10-14 days later.  
In a way it's the situation of a captive market, wonder how the general population would respond if this idea was adopted by the retail grocery market. Just think of how great it would be if one store raise the price of milk to $6 per 4 litres and everyone else followed suit, of course I'm being sarcastic, but if one can do it then it should be acceptable if all did it.

I have noticed taxes and services vary from community to community. House prices are very different as well. Just within Manitoba, uh-huh, uh-huh.  
 
Price of gas, adjusted for inflation, factor in that cars get twice their fuel mileage, gasoline was more expensive in 1982 than now.

Just in time for the Christmas travel the gas prices go up again - I'm sure there is a valid reason for it and it's not gauging :-)

I was getting worried they forgot to increase the price this xmas. Good thing they remembered.

So you walk everywhere and grow all your own food and essentials? If you are buying anything in a store the price of gas will affect you.

I did not say it would not affect me, I said it would have no impact. I simply do not care about the price of gas. Either I want the stuff or I do not.

An interesting answer you give. I'd bet if you lived on Minimum wage, and were running out of things to cut from your budget you have to have to work or feed/look after your family.  
 
You'd have a totally different attitude, when going to the store for essentials that's gone up $50, hydro went up, rent went up, and now we are gonna get the high cost carbon tax forced on us to rising everythings prices.  
 
There are simply just people out there are in trouble and they can't get out of the trap and better themselves or grow food as they don't have gardens.

TheScotsman's got so much money, he just feels like bragging to everyone a little bit. It must be nice to have so much money in the bank, that the costs for everyday essentials just don't matter anymore. Either that, or he's a local gas station owner who is part of the local "jack the price up for Brandon" and drives a business vehicle filled with his own gas. Makes about sense. Definitely not hurting, so long as everybody knows, and especially around Christmas.

you either need or you don't. Just one of those things....may cost an extra $5 - $10. But if it is your way of getting around, I guess you need it.

No, prices didn't go up. The 10 cent difference happens all year round. Brandon gas retailers just normally charge about 10 cents per litre, for the privilege of selling their product to the suckers of Brandon, over and above most every other community in Manitoba. It's just a lack of enforcement from the Federal Government agencies responsible for competition in this country. Kinda like the lack of competition enforcement on everything Canadian, like Loblaws and the billion dollar lawsuit they now find themselves in. For them, it's the price of doing business. For us, it's the lack of action from the Brandon-Souris MP who should ensure that Brandon voters are treated fairly, and in a way that earns respect from our vote.

that you have deep pockets and don`t have to worry what price you might have to pay.

Things are bad here, the Brandon sun reports that the Samaritan House and Helping Hands soup kitchen are in need of donations.  
Part of the reason for their empty shelves is that people cannot afford to give, they are struggling to feed their own families, keep that roof over their heads and yes, keep up with various increases in their property tax, Hydro, water and yes! even their vehicle gas fill ups!  
Year by year the persons needing help increases, hampers given out are over 2100 and meals served are at a high of 190 per day.  
In our small city, that is a terrible amount!  
Why don't we focus on what is wrong with our city?  
This gas price increase affects all and I don't know why some people on here think otherwise!

Yesterday I drove from Brandon to regina....the gas prices were pretty consistent the whole way...if there is gouging, it’s happening everywhere. And my sister from BC laughed at me, saying they’re paying just under a $1.40 in Chilliwack...

It is not the individual gas station owner who raises/lowers the price. Management from the top raises cost.  
 
But if one company say like Petro-Can is a certain price in Winnipeg then why shouldn't it be the same in Brandon?

The local retailers are not responsible this time, and what is interesting is when checking the prices in Winnipeg there are many stations with similar prices.  
Gasoline is a tradeable commodity and prices do fluctuate on a daily basis, and it has risen lately. I will try to post a picture of the cash prices in the US, the graph does not show the consumer price but a refinery price.

What I find interesting about the cash prices, is that earlier in the last three months the cash price was actually higher than now, but was not reflected in our own cash prices at the time, guess the reason could have been a while back the Canadian dollar was higher.
