Hey, so I'm thinking of putting myself out there... make friends, maybe more.  
 
Trouble is... where do you meet LGBTTQ people?  
 
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have a friend who is a gay man who moved to Winnipeg years ago because he found it hard to find friends with in the gay community in Brandon. However I know that there's a lot more going on in the city now as far as acceptance and pride related endeavours. Why don't you start by calling SERC and see if there any committees or anything that you can join where you might meet friends that way. I also did a Google search and found the Brandon Pride site which says that they are always looking for new committee members. It may be a way for you to find friends who have gone through similar experiences as you. Good luck in your search! Finding new friends at all can be challenging but if you can put yourself out there in the first place you might be surprised who you find!

I am new to Brandon but from reading this forum meeting people in Brandon seems to be a recurring theme.  
 
I hope to do something about it. Maybe you will too.  
 
I am openly gay and am going to start to look into forming an LGBT* social group. Just people and allies who want to meet other gay community friendly people in the Brandon area. Not singles club, date club, or Support Group, just people wanting to have some fun in life.  
I haven’t started yet but do have a few leads.  
 
As far as putting yourself out there, well done, but now I am going to test both of our comfort zones.  
 
I will PM you (when I learn how) of a time and place (probably coffee shop) where I will be and would like to meet you.  
 
You don’t have to respond on ebrandon. You can bring someone else. You can show up and leave. I will be there having coffee.  
 
This is not a hook up, not a date, not anything scary or malicious. Just one gay guy in a new town knowing how hard it is to meet people, especially if you are shy. (believe it or not I am very shy)  
 
So, I hope to meet you soon.  
Otherwise I will keep you informed of my future group and any progress I make.

Yeah, I had read that post.  
SERC is definitely a starting place.  
I am actually headed there tomorrow.
