“16 year old girl facing multiple charges — including assault with a weapon and a plethora of undertaking breaches — was once again granted bail earlier this week. The Crown was strongly opposing her release.” Seriously?? Kids today have no consequences for their actions. Brandon is getting worse for reasons like this. I would like to feel safe in my city again! SMH!!!

if we elected judges instead of a lifetime appointment awarded through a popularity contest run by lawyers and politicians they would tend to be more responsive to the wishes of the electorate .

As things seem to escalate, so should restrictions, punishment, and consequences. Granted, this individual has not been convicted of anything yet but continues to be brought before the courts multiple time in a short time span should be an indicator to the powers that be. Sure she is attending anger management and addictions counselling, but is it a ploy to lighten her sentence? Results would be much more compelling than going through the motions IMO.  
 
But what do I know, I'm just a law abiding citizen of the community. I'm just at the mercy of our justice system. I don't feel comfortable, necessarily safe, nor comforted by these rulings. Maybe I'm just a worry wart? Why do we have to have all the patience and compromise our lifestyle choice at the cost of others? IDK. Do you?

Don't worry, the cops will pick her up on a bail violation by Sunday night and she will be back behind bars. And I`m not kidding.

This person hasn't actually been found guilty of a crime. I've watched the crown in the youth court spend the day recommending detention for every kid that appeared that day, including kids with diagnosed severe mental illness with special placements awaiting them.

is to question the sensibility or rationale behind releasing youth on undertakings at all. In many, many many years of being involved in the "systems", every undertaking I ever saw begins with "keep the peace and be of good behaviour". The young person''s lawyer explains what that means - don''t break any of the conditions i.e. don''t get in trouble AT ALL. So the purpose of having conditions so they can be breached again & again & again ?????

Honeslty, what he/she has done is going to and remain going to happen in this world, we are humans and we all make mistakes, that is there conflict and there life. the Brandon sun and ebrandon does not need to disclose there information,nor should they ever in this case or any case (not this one) display any information about there identity or age, or life style. they destroy peoples lives and specially peoples careers, Ask your self have you made a mistake in your life? that one small or big mistake your saying you should be held accountable and there for be judged on your mistake?

Just my opinion but I don't think that any "news" source identifying allegations ruins lives. I wonder how many people have been in the "gallery" at court on Tuesday or Thursday? It's literally filled with people there just to find out what's going on; not at all related to anyone to appear that day. My Dad had a saying in the 50's: once is a mistake, twice is a decision. I believe that still holds true.
