If there is one thing I learned, never trust something you read on that there interweb thing, unless it’s about a truck.  
 
With 25 days till Christmas, those shopping trips are going to be stressful.  
Be careful out there.

I had a laugh today as I was picking up my groceries from SS, using their click and collect service.  
 
I am fine with a big truck taking up more room, if need be, but it drives me crazy when people park in the designated spots for click and collect and go into the store.  
 
Then I realized how lucky I am to even have this pet peeve.....

I drive a full sized double cab 4X4. I have no special talent. I can park between the lines. If you can't, it's probably time to give up your licence or get a smaller vehicle. If you feel that the space is too tight, park at the end of the lot. If everybody took the attitude that they want or deserve two spots, there would not be enough space in the lot for all vehicles. Too many people are too self-absorbed or too lazy.

I drive a normal sized SUV. I also have 2 small children in car seats. I find that I can be fully in my parking spot, and the car beside me can be fully in their spot, but if either one of us isn’t PERFECTLY centred in the spot ( and I really do mean perfectly), then it can be quite challenging getting my kids in and out of the car. Although bad parking is a pet peeve of mine, I have often been tempted myself to park in 2 spaces (when not busy and near the end of the lot), not only to protect my vehicle, but others as well. I’d hate to have my vehicle dinged up, but I’d be horrified to have my not so careful child open the door just a little too hard to get into the car, and ding someone else’s door.

When I am fully licensed, I may well stick to the edges. The parameters of these lots (particularly the biggest and busiest) where the lazies tend to avoid because of their . . . laziness lol.  
 
While the parking thing is annoying, its not just trucks, I can tell you that. I have seen a single smaller SUV take up 2 spaces in a lot with HUGE spaces, just because. Coincidently, they also left their cart 20 feet from the nearest corral. Also common.  
 
3 more things:  
 
1.) I am sometimes amused by watching people (cars, vans and trucks alike) back out of spaces. I swear that I have seen semis in packed parking lots make tighter turns.  
 
2.) Don't get tunnel vision when driving, PARTICULARLY in a parking lot. Yes, everyone should be watching where they are going. But when someone is pushing a row of carts and you dart right in front of them out of nowhere . . . they have no breaks.  
 
Also, good luck with the "It't not me!" defense if you hit a child.  
 
3.) LOOK BEFORE YOU BACK UP!  
 
This is another thing that irritates me to no end. They hit the gas and move 5 feet before they actually LOOK what is behind them (or they focus on one side only).  
Yes, some new vehicles have back up cameras. But those should be easy to spot since they won't look period. As opposed to going half way and THEN checking if the coast is clear.  
 
We all have to take responsibility. It is easy to pass it off the the pedestrian ("I AM IN A TON OF STEEL!"). But good luck selling that to a court of law if you cripple someone.

here in brandon is the small parking spaces, they are much smaller than stores in other major centers.  
we moved from Calgary some time back with a newer van at the time. no door ding, within 6 momths here all kinds of dings and scrapes. first thing I noticed was the smaller stall size. I know the city has a size range adn the store when developing has latitude in the size, but the difference in size is very noticable.  
 
to boot per capita I think we have more trucks on the road here than Calgary, also visit edmonton regularly and find the same thing.  
 
Good thing we dont have many of those 1970's full size 2 door cars anymore, you'd never get out of them with the big door.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was agreeing with you- I meant the myth that you can get a ticket for leaving it in!  
 
I've been leaving hitches in purposely for 10 years, Been rear ended three times, twice the hitch saved me from getting any damage, and well the third time the guys car had to be put on a flatbed. Dude called the cops because he was livid my hitch caused so much extra damage to his car. (took out his rad, trans cooler, ac condenser) He was convinced I was breaking the law and was going to be partly at fault for him sliding into me lol. The cops and I had a good laugh as his car was loaded up and I was ofcouse found 0% at fault and received no tickets.

yes I did take it the other way -sorry. I have never been on either end of an incident with a hitch but my son had his car backed into and a nice hole from a hitch. Hit and Run. What it boils down to is that people have to be aware at all times because there are people out there who do not care. As careful as one can be there are other people who-well-you wonder how they ever got licenses.  
Twice yesterday in Brandon-once at Canadian Tire lot and once at another lot- it was not trucks but smaller cars that took multiple spots and parked too close to open a door.  
Respect and courtesy seems to have lost their meaning!

Glad someone else see’s the ridiculousness about this. People just need to stop worrying about what others are doing and just watch themselves. I think a lot of stuff people do isn’t right and if it’s important enough for me to concern myself then I say something to that person.  
 
Maybe all you complainers need to walk over to these people and tell them your opinion...... or just stay butt hurt and type about it.
