Pedestrian or vehicle? Do I need to go back to drivers ed?

So... when you're riding a bike on the "road" with traffic (not against) and you come to a stop sign with clear intent to go strait across, and I the motorist travelling and DO NOT have a stop sign... here's my question. Do I stop and let you continue on your way?
In my opinion and please correct me if I'm wrong - as long as you are still "on" your bike are you not considered a vehicle? I would stop for you if you were to dismount with the intent of walking your bike across the stree because I think at that point you become a pedestrian.
Obviously if this is a child, I would most likely stop regardless as some do not know right from wrong... but when you're an adult?
Am I right or just pig headed?
