So I was curious, what did you do for a Christmas party at your job ? Was it all paid for or out of your pocket !

I have worked a number of different places in my career. Most commonly, the Christmas party was a potluck which of course is out of the employee's pockets. A few times has been a nice dinner out, paid for by the employer.

year we did bowling with appetizers and a up to 2 drinks per person.
The Company I work for has always paid for it and this was my 13th Christmas Party with them.

My current employer

Took everyone and their spouses out for supper and an evening of entertainment and dancing. They paid for everything (drinks included).
My last employer gave everyone a $2 Tim Horton's card. And if we wanted a party we had to plan it and pay for it ourselves.

I work in the public service and all social events are paid for by employees. We usually have a potluck and play silly games, or go out for dinner at our own expense.

Staff Christmas party everyone pays out of their own pocket. No gifts, bonuses, or door prizes.
