HELP!!.... Childrens meal schedule, should there be one?

Hello fellow ebrandoners, I am making this discussion as i need your help.
My boyfriend and I are having difficulties coming to an agreement if children should have a meal time schedule and eat with the family, or should they eat when they feel like eating?
My opinion is that kids should eat their breakfast at breakfast time and lunch at lunch time and supper at supper time with the family and then have their snack time between lunch and supper.
I think this because we should get the children into a schedule as our oldest will be attending pre-school right away and then school.
I do believe that both pre-school and school have a scheduled time for lunch and snacks and naps etc. everyday and not just feed each individual child when they get hungry. So my point being, we should get our children used to a schedule as they will be having strict times soon anyways! Also my public health nurse had told me one time that having a schedule for your child makes them feel more secure. They like to know what is going to happen next in the day rather than what ever happens, happens that day.
My boyfriends opinion. (and work buddies agree with him) that children should not have to eat supper with the rest of the family. that we should let them eat when they feel like eating. ???
I also think that they should not have a majority opinion as they are not with the children all day everyday and dont understand that us mother dont want to be getting up to make how ever many meals a day or even re warming them up and having dishes to do then after you had already did them after dinner. is that lazy? or just making life easier for everyone?
Please help me out and give your honest opinions as I strongly believe that I am right as does he!
Thanks very much and look forward to hearing what you have to say!
