Looking for ideas for this weekend for a "Singles Mingle". Ideally, it would be this Saturday (Since there hasn't been one in a while) where singles can get together and meet each other. Open to suggestions as to where people would like to have it and where they would go if this idea takes off. Post replies here and we can all go from there.

So what age range are you thinking of ? Would you meet in a mall, a coffee shop or a bar,, Have you tried this set up before ? Interested............

Never set this up before but I was thinking the Dock in the back room. Open to all ages. Just need a lot more people to be interested. lol.

You all might want to have a nap in the afternoon. I've tried a few times to go to one of the meet-ups at the Dock and at the 40, but by the time I get there, which isn't late, but after 9:00, everyone has gone home.

Always great when folks are able to connect through the site. Would just ask that the forums be used as the place to connect rather than just be an offramp to an event page on an external site. thanks!

We will be starting around 8:30 pm which I agree is late if everybody eaves around 9:00. Hoping to have a semi-decent turn out despite this. In the event I forgot to mention it, people who are going should wear plaid to signify that they are single and part of the group.

Sounds like an older crowed kinda event. Start at 8:30 everyone leave at 9. Might have more success if there was some structure to this event like an age range. No one likes walking into a room being the only one of their age and everyone else is either much older or much younger. Binging the age range into a smaller group may bring more success - for the beginning to see if that helps. If it’s a success suggest different evenings or time frames for different age ranges. Helps with meet people you may have more things in common with. Not to mention the plaid - you might want to reconsider. Not everyone likes, owns or looks good in plaid. Maybe have a table with a quirky code word that’s released on here so it’s discreet for the function. And have a sheet of solid coloured stickers that the people in attendance could wear on their person. This way they could wear whatever is appeasing to them. Just some suggestions to consider. I’ve read a lot about this and found there isn’t great success in turn outs. I personally don’t wanna walk into something being the only one of my age by a long shot and then be disappointed, embarrassed, awkward,etc. Just think this meet up thing could use a shake up and some organization opposed to the usual unsuccessful winging it approach

If you check the profile of the OP he is in his 30's.....maybe he has to be home by 9:00....ha I am in my early 60's and have no curfew when I go out...and yes it should be more organized....

Who goes to bed at 9:00 pm? lol.

4. Age range is 21 to 40.  
5. Wear something plaid to signify that you are single and there for the event. (We do not have space reserved so other people will be there) or at least wear one of the provided name tags. (Ask where they got them from and they will direct you to me)  
 
Any other questions, ask here and they will be answered by me. Feel free to invite people. I would like to see a big turn out but so far it seems people on ebrandon arent all that interested.

It's been moved to an 830 to 9 start time by request so some of the ladies coming have extra time to get ready. Just an fyi for those who want to come

I would like to see the age limit adjusted. I’m 48 but don’t look it or need a wheelchair to get around. Seems guys my age all remind me of my dad - An that’s wrong. Lol

I'm in my mid fifties but I certainly don't have the interests of a senior citizen. I still like hard rock and loud vehicles. Sometimes I feel like such an outsider who doesn't fit the mold.

How was it?

There was a small turn out of about 8 people. we had a good time chatting before we all went our separate ways around 11pm. I think the next one will be in 1 or 2 weeks on a Saturday again, maybe in a different location.
