Do any seniors read these discussions? I am sure there are seniors out there who would enjoy going for coffee just to meet new people. Dating sites aren't for everyone, although I know a lot of people who try to meet other single seniors on these sites. I guess in this day and age of scammers and people with less than honourable motives, it is considered safer to meet on a dating site. But in reality, what's the difference? Once you commit to meeting someone in person, you put yourself out there.

I guess no seniors visit this site, but I do, so I will take this opportunity to tell you dating hasn't really changed much since I was a young person some fifty years ago. I recently met a fine senior fellow, made me a beautiful supper, went for coffee, great chats, some really nice intimacy, etc. Then, one day, he wouldn't so much as return a phone call! No reason given - it still bothers a senior as much as it bothers a young person - and it is still just as thoughtless and rude! My bad nature wants me to pay him a visit and tell him what a cad he is, but my better nature tells me to suck it up - be glad for the good times we had and move on! Just wanted to share this with all you young people looking for love.

Guy is a jerk, he could at least fire off an e-mail if he was afraid to have a face-to-face conversation. Things really haven't changed much over the years.  
Maybe he's just a player or got scared off for some reason.  
Sometimes senior's adult children get very protective (probably worried about their inheritance) and discourage the parent from moving on.

He hasn't been well.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to say something nice to me about my lost love! I must have really liked this person, as it is still bothering me. I know I will get past it - lesson learned - be a bit more wary - but sometimes it is hard to tell what a person's real motivation is. I wouldn't want to be with someone who is like this, so why mourn!!

I haven't had anyone in my life for over 5 years & don't have any family - and have been around the block and back with trying to meet a decent man - not happening - when your older - I'm prepared for being alone the rest of my life as it a dog's breakfast out there - lol

i heard there are senior groups in brandon  
seniors for seniors , and others similar that hold activities and meet for coffee - this may help when you feel betrayed to connect with others

It's not easy meeting people in Brandon no matter if you are young, middle age, or senior. It's like if you are not born and raised here you don't count. It's like the old boys club.

Well , I am a senior here in Brandon.. with the belief that no one is ever to old to meet someone new & special. I wish something could be arranged to make it possible to get this started... I am a real people person who is seeking to meet someone who would have the same out look that I have to share our views and go on outings of our choice.. In order to have a better perspective on the age factor, I am between 61 and 71.

I totally agree with you Guitarannie,!! I have been in Brandon almost 8 years and find it extremely hard also to make new friends. If you aren't from here or have some connection to people then you are going to have a hard time  
 
Not impressed with Brandon at all. I'm in my early fifties and can't wait to retire in a few years and move with the hubby to new adventures.  
 
And it's not just me. My mom is a senior in her early 80s and she also finds people can be clicky and gossipy.  
 
I have lived in a few towns/cities in my 50 years and would have to say Brandon is the worst  
 
Just my opinion because I know the rude comments are probably going to be coming my way with this post. Which just confirms what I just said

totally agree that brandon is very clicky  
it's a small town mentality for being the second Largest City in Manitoba  
not the friendliest either  
difficult finding employment, starting a business, making friends, so disappointed in this place  
a few more years till we retire and leave to live in a bigger, Friendlier City

If you want to make a friend, be a friend. Happiness is a choice you make yourself. It is what you make of it.  
 
Lots of friends that have travelled lots of provinces living here and there. The happy ones get involved within the community and make small talk with others. The unhappy ones always think the grass is greener somewhere else.  
 
Sorry you are disappointed, but there was obviously a reason you moved here.  
 
You are geared for a larger City than a smaller one.  
 
Make the best of it while you can and try and smile at strangers. You may be surprised.

Lived several places over the years and have never had issues meeting very interesting, talkative and social people.  
 
I am sorry you feel that new Brandon people you've tried to meet have a snobbish attitude to you. Maybe you're hanging out in the wrong crowd.  
 
Too bad you feel stuck here and I hope your wish comes true some day where you can venture on to big City living. I honestly wish you well in your future endeavours.

I like your idea, Kittie! I think this would be a good site for seniors to meet other seniors. I know there are a lot of very nice older people out there who would love to meet someone special to spend some quality time with. Maybe our posts will invoke some interest amongst other "older" people.

I am a male in my early 60s and I would like to do the coffee meet.  
I was involved in the other meet ups at coffee culture and the dock. It kinda fizzled out after a while. The age group was varied but most of the time I was the oldest one. I still have coffee with a couple of the people as we became good friends and keep in touch.  
I agree with the others who said brandon is a little clicky especially for a single guy my age.(third wheel) lol  
We should all get off our duffs and make a point of being more friendly

In my early 60's as well. Often think it would be nice to meet that special someone however feel a little nervous about the whole idea. Been on my own a few years now. An informal coffee gathering would be a great idea if I could get up the courage to attend Haha!

Well I don't think Adam would allow us to form a group here on this site. but perhaps if one or more are interested they could private message anyone who has posted a comment on here. That is one way I can see perhaps getting something off the ground. For instance by Kitty Price, if someone wanted to chat or inbox each other all they would have to do is send me a private message by clicking on my user name KITTY PRICE . I would then check my messages & respond.. And if it didn't go anywhere that would be ok also.. At least we took the time to try... Only my humble opinion...

I think setting a place and time to meet for coffee is a good idea.

I think that is a good idea ,but how does that come about,, who determines where & when this could come about..... Lets have more ideas.. There has to be more than just 1 or 2 seniors in Brandon that would like to meet people in their age range..you would think.....

I would be interested in meeting for coffee - Saturdays or Sundays would work best for me - depending on the weekend -just my two cents worth

The other meet ups like this was simply posted by someone (interest in Saturday meet ups) was the title.there was a time and place posted and who ever could come would answer and we would meet.  
If we went to the dock we would tell the hostess we were e Brandon group and she would point us in the right direction.

Thank you for the 2 nice informational posts. I agree Saturdays or Sundays would maybe work best for most people.. Well I guess someone has to start & get this going.. I suggest Coffee Culture . I will be there at 2 PM this Sunday Aug.13th. If we have a few of us gather, perhaps then we can decide as a group if we would like to all meet again & perhaps add to our group.. Hope to see a good turn out.. Coffee Culture is at the corner of 1st. & Victoria Ave.

Thanks for the replies. No pressure, no rules, no deadlines.. Lets just see if we can form a nice group of wonderful people who would like to meet & do things together. Maybe there will even be an interest to join a bowling league in the fall, or maybe do short trips together.. Maybe at some point we could even prepare a name for our group in order that if we meet at a restaurant we could just say our GROUP name.. Thanks..

Sorry kitty I wasn't able to make coffee today. Grandson's had me tossing a fishing line.

I would like to very much thank the 2 lovely ladies that took the time this afternoon to meet up at Coffee Culture.. We had a Awesome visit, and I know we will be in touch again. For those of you who were unable to meet today, I plan to continue to be there on Sundays at 2 PM  
I think it is a wonderful way to share experiences, as well as interact with new people.. There are no limits as to where this journey may take us. We want to have fun, share ideas & opinions that may help others in the group. You do not have to reveal any personnel information unless you choose to.. Life is an inspiring journey, but at times one can feel alone & disconnected, This could be a avenue to bring a little sunshine and feeling of acceptance to those who drop by. Hope to see you all next Sunday.
