Honest Election Information .... yours to interpret
10/26/2010 at 9:29 PM
I sent an email to the mayoral candidates as follows:
My wife and I will be voting in tomorrow's election and we are still undecided as to who will get our vote. One of my main concerns for the city is how decisions will be made, in particular, what are your values, beliefs, principles? As Christians, we are particularly interested in having God welcomed into city planning and city hall, not to say that the church or religion should be involved in politics, but more that there is freedom to pray alongside of City Council. We are not religious people, we just know that many things are unachievable by human effort alone and we should be accessing God's greatest for our city.
First response:
Thank you for your email and enquiry. I appreciate your interest and that is very easy for me to answer. I am very supportive of the religious community and was responsible for arranging for the Prayer Group to be able to come every week at noon on Tuesdays in one of our meeting rooms. I have also attended all six of the Mayor's Prayer Breakfasts.
Personally, I have strong Christian beliefs. As well, I show great acceptance of other religions. I believe in being inclusive and respectful.
Again, thanks for your enquiry.
Sincerely,
Dave Burgess
