What to do with old toner cartridges?

I purchased my first printer with toner and just changed the toner cartridge for the first time. What do I do with the old cartridge? Can they go in the normal garbage? If it makes a difference, I purchased my new ones online.

Staples recycles toner cartridges

Take them to staples, there's a recycling station to drop them off

Best Buy recycles too I believe, and I’m sure Christie’s would (call them and ask).

Best Buy does not take toner cartridges for recycling, but they sure like selling them to people who eventually have to recycle them.

You can bring empty cartridges to INK Brandon
We don't refill them but as a recycling encouragement we give
$5 off for those who purchase our cartridges.

We have toner cartridges available for all types of printers at about 1/2 the price of local "the stapler store" or Best buy retail prices.

Get rewarded with a credit for recycling!

that best buy does not take them back , i though new legislation stated that if you sell it, you take it back. maybe that did not pass legislation.??

staples takes them for sure.
