Love going to the public swim at the SportsPlex on Friday evenings, but slightly disappointed that the water slide is rarely being used. It was shut down for weeks for repairs. We went last Friday and it was finally done being fixed, the life guards turned it on for maybe 15 minutes and then turned it off because they didn't have enough staff to monitor it. I totally understand that issue, but the slide is really the main attraction for that pool, and to not be able to use it, especially after spending money to fix it, seems a little ridiculous doesn't it?

So, do you REALLY understand the issue of having to turn it off, or do you find it ridiculous?

Let's stop and think about how many public pools with water slides are open right now in southwest Manitoba, can't think of many. So, a parent phones the sportsplex to see about the pool and water slide so they can maybe take a child and some friends in for a swim on a Friday evening. They drive in from a rural area and get to the sportsplex and find that part of the attraction isn't open, ok maybe no big deal if your in Brandon, but sort of a dissapointment if you driven in from any distance.

Sad that it is so seldom in use. We did without the pool for so long in order to have the improvements. Having a life guard is really important but should adults not have to supervise their children when swimming and sliding, why is it about the staffing.  
It sure would be great of some of the people who have nothing nice to say would not bother commenting, or perhaps curb the attitude a little instead of insulting others. Enjoy spring everyone.

There are provincial regulations that govern the number of lifeguards required in a pool. Parental supervision has nothing to do with it.

So what did the City/Sportsplex say when you contacted them to ask why there is low staffing of lifeguards and why the waterslide isn't in use for a longer period?
