Just had a guy at my door - said he didn't want money, but was talking so damn fast I'm not sure what he wanted. I said I do all my donating online and sent him off - but just a warning to others - as I am not sure he is legit.

They were just by my place. Very pushy. I’m all for supporting a good cause but no means no and when someone declines then you should thank them for their time and politely move on.

A couple of years ago, this happened to my daughter. The man was very pushy and intimidating. She was home alone and just agreed to the monthly payment that he was looking for. I ended up calling Red Cross and making a complaint. They assured me that this was not appropriate and took the man's name (as it was now on the paperwork) and cancelled her payment agreement.  
Tactics like being pushy, will only turn people off of wanting to donate
