What the heck is going on down there... 00 hundred block of 9th North has been closed since about 7.. swat team... cops every where, guns drawn. People asked to leave from Area?????

A standoff according to CKLQ

That’s at least the 3rd or 4th standoff this year here in Brandon. Times are getting tough for some people I guess. Hopefully it’s resolved peacefully.

it's subjective. It is not crazy scary to live in one of the safest cities in Canada.  
 
People here have it pretty good actually. This is nothing like a little Chicago.. which of course makes reference to organized crime.

Do you figure it's no scary? There are robberies, attacks, meth freaks,people carrying unlawful weapons etc etc etc....

it's about perception versus reality. Also crime rates have statistically dropped.  
 
There have always been "robberies, attacks, meth freaks and people carrying weapons" ALWAYS .. now they are arrested, we hear more about the arrests and so if you didn't think this stuff was happening years ago, you are mistaken.

The response would seem to indicate a serious situation. One can hope it ends peacefully without anybody hurt. CKLQ has put out a bit of information below:

Please start another thread to debate general assumptions/perceptions re crime in the city. In the interest of an objective conversation I would really recommend that that thread be based on crime stats put out by Police.
