Oil Prices Take A Dump!
7/23/2008 at 10:21 PM
Been following this very closely for the past few months and just waiting for the breaking point, hopefully it's finally here! The highest oil reached in recent days was $147.XX and today is sitting at $124.XX. I admit, I have gotten my hopes up on a few occasions where oil showed a few declines, but MAYBE oil is finally gonna drop!
There have been serious repercussions this summer to the high gas prices, trips cancelled, declines in park attendance, people selling the gas hungy SUVs for more efficient vehicles. I HOPE I am right in saying the high gas prices this summer are over and declines will be coming very soon...All the articles I read seem to predict that, some are saying sub $90 oil before the first 1/4 of 2009. I think we might see sub $90 oil before the end of 2008! Why? People are adjusting, you always hear, even here in Brandon about the sudden rise in sales of scooters even! People are buying more fuel efficient vehicles.
That will continue, do you honestly think people are gonna say, as gas prices now fall..."Huh, I think I will sell my new Ford Focus and buy another SUV" ??? Doubtful, what they would loose in the depreciation alone far outweighs $200 oil! People who made the changes are here to stay, and I think oil will continue to fall.
I'll be reasonable, oil is going to go up without doubt. But what we have experienced was way too much, way too fast. Between the speculators and the greedy oil companies, I hope oil falls to $20 a barrel and they can't give it away! Serves them right IMHO.
That won't happen, but every day when I check th eoil prices, if it's lower, my smile will grow a little more.
