Do they really work ? What brand is best want them for the cabin over winter .

Year around in our trailer and sun room and they seem to work. Never had a mouse in our trailer - we leave it on all year. Have had one in our sun room - but it is kind of attached to the house and have to go outside to get into it, so not a really fancy sun room. (had the for about 8 years)  
 
We still put mouse seed down, just to watch for tracks.  
 
We just bought the biggest size we could get at Canadian Tire.

We had a mouse last year. I've seen them outside before that. After we got rid of the mouse, we bought a Sonic deterrent and haven't had a mouse in the house since then. I rotate where I plug it in.

Don't want to install anything that will hurt our pet's ears.

our cat comes in the sun room with me where I have one and it does not bother them.  
 
I also believe that it says that on the box or instructions.  
 
I just picked this random one off the Canadian Tire site where in the descrption it says safe around children and animals.

We had a mouse problem where I was catching one mouse a day last fall in sticky traps. Bought those sonic ones. The pack with 4 small ones. We probably caught 15-20 over the next week. I think it drove them crazy. And have maybe had 2 in the next year since then. I think they work. Still have them plugged in
