Looking for recommendation on where to take baby to get ears pierced. Clare’s vs tattoo shop? Or any other options. Not looking for opinions on whether or not I should do it please.

You would have to call around to see if a piercer would do them on a baby. I recently got my 6 year olds ears pierced and most of the shops I called won’t do it until they are 10. I would not go to a place that uses a ‘gun’ as it cannot be properly sterilized (they will tell you it doesn’t have to be because it doesn’t actually touch the ear) and the people doing it in places like that have received very little training.

After seeing workers using a gun vs taking in my daughter when older to a tattoo shop they are day and night. The professionalism in the tattoo place was top notch. Attention to if they are level, sterilization, private room, all were so much better at the tattoo place. Like others say, how do you properly clean these hole punches they use in the stores?

What age did you get your daughter's ears pierced, and at what shop?

I think early teens. It has been a while now. I can't remember if it was the same place that did her belly button. If so it was next to Millar's on 18th. A guy was very good.

My daughter to Clare’s . She was 6 months .she only cried for a few mins . Most places won’t touch a baby . As we called around . Seems they were the only ones at the time . This was 3 years ago .

We took our daughter to Claire’s back in April. She was four and we were told that tattoo shops won’t pierce children under 5. They did an excellent job and were very kind and professional. My daughter didn’t even cry. She’s had no major issues with infection, just a slight one in one ear when we changed out her earrings, which was likely my fault.

I was 4 when i got my ears pierced for my birthday (my mom jokingly asked if i wanted my ears pierced for my birthday and i said yes) a gun was used and they didnt match so i had to have one ear repierced and now have trouble with putting earrings in due to a scar. Please wait and ask the kid when old enough if she wants them like my mom did... Care is a lot easier that way

Unfortunately the gun has nothing to do with the piercings being uneven. It was the operator of the gun that messed up.

Unfortunately it still cause problems today and ive had it for 20+ years now... I was still didnt even flinch about the gun and it came out uneven. If its a baby they are wanting done i would wait as they van move thier head alot so based off my experience wait till the kid can answer for themselves if they want thier ears pierced its helpful with ear care that happens etc. By still having issues i mean the scar hole is deep enough that a earring starta through it and everytime i change earrings i hit that one first. Had i had needles uses for other earring piercings needles are a better option

I got my oldest child’s ears pierced by a local hairdresser and my other two daughters done at Claire’s. My youngest had one ear that just wouldn’t heal so I had to let it heal over and then re-pierce a few months later. Usually they do a good job but there are no guarantees for situations like ours.  
Basically wherever you go, there is a certain standard, so don’t stress too much over the decision.
