What happened to service from hairdressers, such as  
being brushed off and cleaned up before leaving. You  
used to be able to get your hair done and then go out  
from there. I have to go home before even going shopping. This has changed terribly in the last 20 years.  
This just isn't in Brandon. What are we tipping for, we're not even getting what we're initially paying for???

Then don’t tip.... pretty easy solution

Mine does all of that and offers coffee, drinks, water, etc.

Find someone new or say something. From barbers to hair stylists I have always been brushed off, vacuumed, etc.

Ya I have to agree with everyone else here. You just have a lazy hairdresser as I never have this problem. I go all over the place in Brandon and have only had a bad haircut amd service once.

I tried a new hairdresser and she was good for about 4 times, and then starting doing as little as possible. I was in and out in under 30 minutes...still charged me $45.00

I’ve noticed this a bit too. There’s one place that is bad for not shampooing my hair unless I ask them too even though it’s i:ncluded in the price (and honestly, it’s my favourite part of going to the salon so yes I want it done lol) I’ve also noticed more and more aren’t offering to “do” your hair after the cut....and I don’t mean an updo or anything crazy but I’ve always been asked if I want it left natural, curly product put in or straightened. I’ve also had to run home first and quickly straighten it before going out. I wasn’t sure if it’s no longer i:ncluded or if it’s an extra fee now so I’ve never asked them to do it lol. There have been times I haven’t tipped because of those 2 things

This has happened at various salons in BC, AB and MB.  
I'm not talking about getting a magazine or coffee. I mean the quality of service has gone down over the years.

I recently stopped going to our usual mall hairdresser for the kids after they wouldn’t give the ‘i:ncluded’ wash before the cut. I said I wanted their hair washed and the stylist said it wasn’t needed and they would just brush the tangles out. Sorry, but for $20+ and a 5 minute cut, a good wash and condition should always be i:ncluded.

That’s 2 different places that are trying to get out of washing then because the place I’m referring to isn’t in the mall

I have had this before at one particular salon in Brandon where they didn’t wash my hair or want to put the time in to style it. At this salon she ripped my hair out you could see the bunches of hair on the ground. I was traumatized and decided to change hairdressers and went to Gingersnips. When the girl washed my hair, she even massaged my head! I haven’t had that kinda service in such a long time! She did an amazing job and even asked how I preferred it styled! Point is, to the OP— change your hairdresser, you and your hair deserve better.

I recommend Hair Designs by Tracey. She is off the highway towards Shilo.  
 
I get a wash, cut, blow dry, style for all 3 of us for way less than many of you spend for 1 person at a fancy salon. She does it out of her home. We have been going to her for years!

I teach Hairstyling and what I can tell you is most are taught to shampoo and provide full service. If you are not getting the service you desire you need to let the stylist or boss/owner of the salon know otherwise nothing will change. Laziness is common in Hairstyling but it is mostly cause they get away with it. If we as the consumer let them know it is not acceptable then there is a likelihood that it might change. We all need to be more vocal if we dont like or agree with something. I am not suggesting ma,ing a scene or anything, in fact if you prefer you could write a letter and be anonymous. Nothing changes if we dont know it needs to change.

Why would you not speak to the salon owner, refuse to pay for the lack of service, change salons???  
There are many great salons in Brandon where they do offer service above and beyond. Coffee, magazine, wash, dry, blow out and many other things as well. IF you are willing to pay for a great stylist you will get what you pay for. The cost of equipment replacement, continued education and their time are what you are paying for. If styling were so easy...everyone would do it from home.  
Change salons as many times as you need to get the experience you are willing to pay for..... that would be sensible but alas it is easier to come on EBrandon and complain about it .  
Let's lump em all together and say they are all bad.....that's fair right????

I have my own beauty salon and not one person leaves with hair on them or their clothing. So not all stylist are like that..either speak up to the same gal/guy or find a new one..

Go to esquire, what an absolutely amazing experience. I know the location is off putting but you won’t go anywhere else I actually always can’t wait for my next haircut.
