Looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner.. Really like the Dyson v10 cordless stick ones. But they start off at $599 to $799. Is there a similar style for a better price that anyone has tried?

You get what you pay for! Love our V10 but I agree they are on the pricer end for sure. If you get it you won't regret it and it will last years.

Awesome, easy to carry around, light, holds a good charge. So easy to take off the top, put on the attachment, clean the car.  
 
Comes with an attachment to charge it, we never did attach ours to the wall, we just plug in the top part and it sits in the corner.  
 
I have both the big Dyson and the Stick. If they both died, I would get the stic first.  
 
But watch for sales, they are always coming on sale at Cdn. Tire. Through great customer service and a horrible buying experience on my big Dyson. Dyson sent me the stick free.

Not what I wanted to hear.. LOL! I wanted someone to say a cheaper brand worked just as good not hear how good the Dyson is. I already knew that. LOL! But thanks tho for the info. Might have to scrape the bank account empty and buy a dyson.

Guess I'm one of the rare ones who has been less than impressed by Dyson. We have the corded pet version and our central vac system blows the Dyson out of the water. Takes almost double the time to get the dog hair off our black rug as with central vac.  
 
On the cordless version, we borrowed our mother in laws for a short period. It did ok. Was happy the battery seemed to hold full power right till it died with no performance drop off as battery lost juice. Still tho didnt hold a candle to the corded version. But I would consider one if the price point was more in the $300 range. If i paid close to $1000 for the cordless like the mother in law I would have been returning it. Performance didnt match the price tag.

I recently bought this Shark Vacuum for my wife after doing extensive research into Dyson Alternatives...We don't regret it at all!

the good thing is you can always buy a 2nd battery.

Went to CT and looked at their options... still wasn't quite ready for the 600+ price tag of the Dyson and ended up with the Hoover Fusion that was on sale for 250. They claimed it was close to as good.. will see. Not too bad so far.

The shark Ionflex duoclean has spare batteries you can buy which is incredible for when your vacuum dies whilst vacuuming. I’ve experienced both the Dyson and Shark and hands down the shark one is ways better. The suction is better and it picks up bigger pieces much more efficiently then the dyson. And the best part is the price is much more affordable!
