I generally go to one of the national news websites on a daily basis to keep up with how things are going. Twice in the last month or so, when there have been disasters in the middle east, once a bombing in Pakistan, today the trampling of Hindu worshipers in norther India. Both times this site has shown pictures of deceased people lying on the ground.  
 
Personally I don't believe it's respectful of the media to broadcast pictures of corpses. It's different if they are covering an incident live and something happens, but to flash a picture on the front page of your website is in my opinion a gratuitous use of their power.I was raised in a family where you didn't speak ill of people who had passed even if they deserved it. I always felt the same about respect for the body of the deceased.  
 
However, I'd like other people's take on this because maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!
