So its apparently illegal to smoke in public places, work environments etc. WHY do trucking companies still allow drivers to smoke in the trucks!? Its a home yes but its a workplace as well. The smell is atrocious and hard as hell to get out when a new driver takes over the truck! A useless rant i know but its so frustrating when you take over a truck and it reeks of smoke and the walls upholstery is yellow with nicotine!

Hated it when I drove too. Heck I worked shift work jobs where there was a no smoking policy, working 2 drivers a day on the same truck, and constantly climbing into an ashtray! No one with the grit to enforce it though, and sadly smokers can sometimes be the most inconsiderate people and combine that with a trucker, no way to enforce it. I even had one co worker try and play the "its my stress relief and if I am stressed at work its for my mental health that I need to smoke while I drive". Very frutrating.

The truck . Tell dispatch that your not using a truck that’s been smoked in . That’s what I’ve done in the past .

Its cleaned up enough now to at least sit in and not feel like your sitting in an ashtray. Next time we run through Winnipeg, we will take it into the heavy truck detailer we deal with there.  
Still peeves me off though.

Not work related but had a car salesman try to sell me a used car and when he opened the door it wreaked of cigar smoke. I said not buying this because of the smell. He said take it for a test drive that they could get the smell out. It drove worse than it smelt.  
 
Also had a vehicle that was used for work and employee butted his cigarette out in the seat leaving big holes. Got mad every time I had to get into the vehicle.

Are the shipping companies that allow their truckers and office staff to smoke.  
 
As I recall Gardewine was the only one around Brandon that did not allow it and your shipments would come in not reeking of smoke.  
 
Other companies were absolutely awful - anything you shipped would be just permeated with smoke smell for days if you could get it out at all. Got to the point we couldn't use them.

How does the smoke from the cab of truck make it into the back of the semi trailer??! That's some impressive smoking skills if the driver can make his load smell like smoke.  
 
Now if you mean the courier companies that deliver packages in town in the 3 tons etc. well I don't think you will be able to stop that. Most couriers are owner operators so be pretty hard to tell a guy he can't smoke in his own truck.

and nothing worse when a smoking delivery person or serving staff you have to interact with their stench and breathing stench breath on you while talking to them and to leave a lingering pong after they vacate the premises is gross! if you smoke don't think you don't stink you just can't smell it because you are enveloped in it and smoking diminishes your senses. You can quit it or it WILL quit you. Never quit quitting! If one person takes this to heart then I wish them all the success in quitting.

How about the kids that bath in Axe body spray. Females that drench themselves in perfumes. How about those that don't use deodorant? I have dealt with farmers that reek of farm crap....to them it is the smell of money. To me it is plain crap lol.
