Thinking of moving to Cromer , Mb would appreciate some feedback as far as what the community has to offer I did a bit of research but would like to here from people that live around there .

There really is nothing in Cromer. It caters a lot to the oil industry as they are nearby. With that said prices at the store are a little inflated because of this... There is one restaurant (if it still even open) and it is not very good. Unless there was something about Cromer that was drawing you to it I think I would keep looking.

My first question would be, are you working close by, or commute to Brandon? The highway from there to Virden is busy everyday early morning and again at end of day. The restauarant has been closed for awhile now, was up for tax sale. Being a small town you will quickly know the neighbours.

but i would suggest speaking with those close by not just people on here saying no.  
 
Cromer valley store is an amazing place if you need work wear and mmm on their home made sausage rolls.  
 
In cromer your a half hour from Virden. short drive to reston or maryfield , saskatchewan where there is an amazing steak pit bar. best steaks at more then reasonable price then high end places.  
 
Everyone has reasons for wanting more rural and if your ok with more rural it is likely as good a choice as any.

A great little community. Not unlike many small towns. An excellent general store with a bake shop and hardware, as well as clothing and groceries.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I spent many years working in "the patch" out there. Been to Cromer more times then I can remember. It is a friendly community no doubt, met lots of locals who were always welcoming that's about it. Bake shop? I would say there is a place to get some baking. If you are going to say there is a bake shop may as well say there is a pizza parlor too. There is no clothing stores in Cromer unless you want a pair of nomex coveralls or a tough duck jacket. Groceries you are likely going to get in Virden or somewhere else unless you really need something. And I guess if driving into Saskatchewan to cook your own steak is appealing to you there is Maryfield but don't have to high of expectations its also nothing special and not something you would likely do very often.  
 
Rubyrue if you are honestly interested in living in Cromer I would suggest you take a drive there and check it out for yourself.

Cromer is a small town with a general store. They have fantastic donuts, cookies, bread, pizza.... they also have the basics - milk, small selection of groceries, etc. The store has been newly rebuilt in the past couple years and the people that work there are friendly. Cromer is definitely an “oil” town with lots of oil traffic. There is a terrific coop in Virden that also has been newly rebuilt in the last couple years for grocery needs as well! Maryfield has a bar with restaurant, abattoir, massage, etc. Moosomin is not that far and they have the Red Barn, and clothing and grocery stores. If you want a good steak, check out Fleming. Virden also has Hardware stores and clothing stores. Kola, which is close by, also has a cafe that is open.

Sort of interesting how people look at thing, people live in areas with far less than Cromer has to offer, I live in a rural framyard, as do many other people, no bakeshop, no grocery store, no rink, and like so many other people it’s just fine for me.  
What we want from life is not always the same for everyone, run out take a look and judge the place against what YOU want. Now sort of off topic, wonder if they have a chicken bylaw.

I was born and raised on a family farm near Cromer, moved away for post secondary education and a few years living in my husbands home town. We have been back for 5 years now and have began to raise our own family here. Cromer has a lot to offer for its size and is in great proximity to larger towns that offer everything you need.  
If you are on Facebook search up Cromer RecCentre and add us as a friend. That will give you a good idea of the extra curricular activities going on.  
 
-Skating rink (brand new kitchen, washrooms, change room, and viewing lounge - available for bookings, always open for public skating)  
-Playground - small but functional  
-Coffee Club (meets daily @ 10 am at the rink $2 for unlimited coffee)  
-Hall available for parties, meetings, etc.  
-Cromer United Church (4 services per month)  
-Cromer Garage - oil changes, order new tires, get tires fixed, etc.  
-Cromer Valley Store - baked goods, pizzas, lunch items, grocery items, tools, clothing, post office  
-Cromer Valley Construction - new house builds, garages, reno projects  
-Welding shop  
Activities held throughout the year (many are very reasonably priced or free!):  
-Christmas Brunch  
-Family Free Skate Day  
-Kids Carnival/Stick Horse Rodeo  
 
Obviously we don't know the reason why you are thinking of moving here? Work - oil patch? Enbridge? TEML? Tundra?  
But Cromer is in a great municipality RM OF PIPESTONE!  
Housing is affordable, taxes are reasonable, town is quiet.  
 
Things to note: No liquor or cigarettes/tobacco sold in Cromer. Poor cell service. You may want to get a booster.

-camp ground  
-brand new spray park & man made lake  
-fair grounds  
-skating & curling rink

-small grocery store (similar to Cromer)

-schools (if you have children they will likely go to Virden unless you decide otherwise)

-every sport imaginable  
-clothing, shoe, hardware stores  
-hair stylists, massages & more  
-banking  
-restaurants/bars/liquor store  
-grocery store (brand new Co-op)  
-fundraising for a Spray Park & Skate Park
