Just wondering where the best place to get their eyes checked in Brandon is?

I really like Dr Beaumont at FYI Doctors. I don’t particularly like the service otherwise there, so buy my glasses and contacts elsewhere.

Are they ok with giving you your pres:cription? I’ve never asked for it before, so not sure how people would receive it!

Eye outfitters are great (any of the doctors). They have no problem giving you your prescription (it is law, they have to), but they are very pleasant about it, even if it is a couple years old.

By law they have to give you your pres:cription. I’ve never had a problem getting it, jut ask for it and they print it off, no issues.

Have never had a bad experience with any optometrist from FYI and Eye Outfitters but service has never been exceptional at FYI. One of the ladies made me feel bad asking for my prescription and then when I asked for my PPD she said I could get it if I purchased a pair through them she would provide it to me. I’m quite shy and didn’t understand what the measurement was so I paid for a very expensive pair just to have her fail to actually give me the measurement in the end (obviously I know now what it is). Also had issues with their direct billing not working twice at FYI which is a hassle. The second time I just told them they had my information so to put it through when they do get it working again.  
 
If you’re not shy or afraid to stand up for yourself they’ll be fine!

and I think he's great - very personable and explains everything very well. I always ask for my pres:cription - never pressured in any way to buy my glasses there - sometimes I've bought glasses from Scotia Optical and sometimes from FYI doctors - never had any problem dealing with either place.

The front end staff are the opposite. Very pushy and look down their noses at you. Hard to believe really!  
 
We have always gone to Cristall Opticians and get our pres:cription faxed over. No hassles and you’re treated like a human being.

I also liked my optometrist at FYidoctord, but I was also made to feel very uncomfortable when asking the front staff for my pres:cription. After many years, I finally switched to Eye Outfitters. So far, so good!

I’ve gone to Dr. Rust at FYI for over 20 years I think lol always great service from him and his staff. Never had any issues.

Add another to the Dr.Rust list. Always happy with him.

He might be the nicest person I have ever met. I have been going to him for years and he is great. Never had a problem with getting my pres:cription from them at Eye Outfitter. Never felt pressure to buy from them and never treated rudely. Highly recommend!!!

agree 100%, he is awesome, explains everything so well.

Staff at the back are super.  
Staff selling glasses or checking your glasses when you get them back that they are right are NOT.  
 
Very pushy for selling. I ended up ordering glasses the one time which was totally not what I wanted. I am usually more forth right but was worried about a number of things. Hated them ever sense.  
 
these same glasses first time they came back. I put them on and told the girl I can't see a thing there is something wrong. She won't believe me thought I was being difficult.  
 
I told her to get someone that was experienced. Even that one was a bit snotty. then finally it was found out that the way they mark your eyes and check where things to was totally done wrong by the person selling glasses. So, they had to redo them and there I am out of glasses for another 3 weeks. They came back and were still wrong. Again back and then finally they came back and not totally right but by then I had it and said the pres:cription was wrong. The girl went back talked to Dr. Rust and he hold her to get me in right away to see him to check on it. Went to front desk and they weren't happy. So they said I couldn't get in for 2 weeks....so I just left.  
 
won't give up Dr. Rust but certainly won't buy glasses there again.  
 
Any time in the past if someone gives me trouble about giving me my pres:cription I just say it is the law. What is your full name so I can put it in my complaint to the government. Amazing how fast you get your pres:cription printed out.

So I know I can’t name names so I won’t. But please be aware that if you have an illness (think diabetes, lupus, and such) most of your eye exam is covered by manitoba health. Also if you think you have pink eye or have scratched your eye that appointment is covered by Manitoba Health. As someone who has a disease that mb health covers the majority of the cost I went to one of the places mentioned and paid full price for the exam. I questioned it at the time and the person working the front ‘had never heard of Manitoba health covering any exams for adults.’ I paid and left. A few weeks later I called Manitoba Health and low and behold my exam was also billed to me health who paid. So they made big money on my exam. I called them back and after about 3 weeks of runaround they refunded me around $30. Way less than I or mb health paid. Be careful who you trust!

My 89 year old mom got talked into buying 2 pairs of glasses downtown at over 3000 dollars recently. She is terminal but still her pres:cription hasn’t changed in 20+ years. They told her she needed several pairs for when she misplaced them.

I'm intrigued by this comment. I have been going to fyi doctors in Town center since it was Total eye care.....Always found all staff friendly and super helpful. The girls at the front are always amiling and ready to serve you  
Are you sure you arent getting some of your offices mixed up??
