It is obvious that you are not an animal lover. How sad that you will never experience the joy a cat or dog can bring into the life of a child or adult. There is an old saying the more people I meet, the more I love my {cat or dog}.  
I guess I am your disgusting family. On the farm, we have dogs, cats, and horses and I have no problem cleaning up after any of them.  
I am not certain I would want to meet you!

a lot of people have kids and then decide do not want them and then off into the system there are oodles of kids needing a home .  
people and their animals they are loved and taken care of not neglected or abandoned they are real animal lovers.

People with pets are wayyyyyyy more happier, easier going, calmer, etc, than the ones without pets. Isn"t it documented that people with pets have wayyyyyy less stress, and maybe that's why more Seniors homes are allowing pets, like the one on the West end on Victoria.

Does it harm anyone if I treat my dog better than a lot of people treat other people? Why, on earth, would my behavior towards my dog concern or disgust someone?

So if a person doesn't clean up their dog crap you consider them to be highly intelligent?  
 
Some couples cannot have children, for whatever reason', how dare anyone cast judgement on these people! Animals are there to be loved and cherished and well looked after.

Your post is both ignorant and judgmental. I'm glad others have called you out on it.  
 
To attempt to draw a linkage between people loving animals and some deficiency in their own upbringing is odd. Do a little introspection. It would appear you are the one who should give some thought to your perspective and outlook on life. Maybe judge others less and judge yourself more.

Just wow! I find it disgusting how many people treat animals like they are disposable and just leave them to fend for themselves! I find it disgusting how many people don’t take care of their animals and just let them be picked up by others to then have to rehome them. Treating an animal with love and giving them a safe home is definitely NOT disgusting

As one post indicated, pets treat people wayyyyyy better than people treat people. How true.

Your disgusting post illustrates perfectly why I prefer animals to humans. No. I have no children. Never wanted any, so never had any. I do love animals. All animals. Some people do not care for animals and throw them away. I take care of some of those unwanted and neglected animals. I think the world of them. Anyone who can post a post like yours-well, I have absolutely no interest in treating you with anything but contempt.

are too busy on their phones, wi-fi and don't know how to communicate anymore, unless through social media.  
 
So people have pets, so much fun, interaction, part of the family.

I don’t think you’ve really taken the whole situation into consideration...  
First off, as many have pointed out, it is easier to get attached to an animal. You’re basically an animals whole world and the majority of its social life, so animals are easier to form a bond with.  
Second, raising a child is expensive and if you look at the way jobs pay now, a minimum wage job is not enough to raise a child or a family, so some people who wish to care for another being, will opt for a pet if possible. That way they do have that way to care for someone and not have to worry about living cheque to cheque with a child.  
Third, some people don’t want or can’t have children. And it’s none of your business on why. People have their reasons for not having kids and I really don’t think you should concern yourself with it.  
As someone pointed out, there are lots of children in the system, up for adoption that are waiting for a home, yet you seem to think that because some people don’t want the responsibility of raising another human being, that the human race is going to die? No, there’s a lot of things that are going to kill the human race and I can tell you for a fact that it’s not gonna be lack of population growth.

maybe you should address this one on one with the people you know where you believe this to be the case. They can perhaps tell you why.  
Another thought is that perhaps these same people ARE emotionally attached to people: how would you know? Could it be that they're not married & having chikdren? Is that your standard that you're judging people by?

You don’t know how humanity will survive because some families have pets instead of children?!?! Well aren’t we quite judgemental for someone choosing not to have kids but a dog. You think this is a problem for our society?! Let me tell you there are way worse things going on today than people loving their pets. Why hate on something that makes people happy. I don’t get why people have to be like that. Trust me the world is so overly populated........I’m sure humanity will survive because my husband and I chose a cat and a dog over kids.

There is a reason for therapy dogs. They don’t judge or gossip, just comfort. I love my family and friends but my dogs are always there for me and don’t ask questions.

to answer why us seemingly intelligent people pick up our dog's crap (as you put it) - #1, the law says we should & #2, would it be better to let people walk through it? I  
Guess you didn't give that part much thought. . . . . .

Why do I feel like this could be committed2brandon under a different name? ANOTHER post that boils down to human population in danger...only without the religious zealot aspect.  
 
Seriously, people can and should love their pets. Pets are intrigal parts of many families. Animals are easy and direct. You love them and they pretty much love you back. No drama, no head games. They are sensitive you your emotional needs and are happy just be with you. Pets don't judge people for their looks, their weight, their social status, religion or lack there of. They don't care about your past, your short coming, your strengths or your weaknesses. As long as you are good to them and spend time with them, they love you.  
Every living creature responds to love. People are not "making up" for not being loved by loving their pet. They are adding to their lives, enhancing their lives by adding another being to love.  
Why would the right to be loved on this planet be reserved only for humankind? People are not being replaced by pets. I can guarentee that if I didn't have a pet, I still would not add another human to my household...by my choice. And if I did want to add another human or two to my household, my pet(s) would not stop me from doing so.
