It's Koch Fertilizer venting, if I'm not mistaken. Bloody loud at my house!

People are saying Koch but there’s no confirmation. I’ve never heard it before. Maybe with the loud booms a while back people just associate weird noises with the plant lol

We thought it sounded like a jet but, I can still hear it at 10:35pm. Doubtful it’s any kind of aircraft.

Must be Koch venting / flaring.

With how long it’s been going on there is no way it’s a jet. I don’t think they have to notify anyone when they do it and it’s like due to a shut down or maintenance. Wether it’s planned or not.

Quite loud even in the downtown area though.

I thought I was going crazy last night with the noise. Boyfriend said it was probably the wind or a train, I thought it was a plane. Woke up this morning, the sound is still going! Im on the North end of town, so it is not as disruptive for me, but I feel for my family that lives near Green Acres, oi!

It's the plant starting up. When the wind blows from the east it can really carry the sound.

From a Koch Fertilizer plant spokesperson, the plant went down on Monday morning due to a mechanical issue (no cause for concern to the public). Startup sequence began last night, with associated sound that folks in this thread had noticed abating today.

I guess the plant has to do what it has to do! But it would be nicer if the wind changed directions, lol

Actually when the plant was built back in 1966, there wasnt much of anything east of 1st street. The public built towards the plant. Sorry. Live with it.

We should be thankful the noise isn't an every day operating occurrence.

The noisiest I ever heard was when the CN crew decided to use a jackhammer after 11 at night to break the ice on the tracks, the whole house vibrated!

Bart2 is correct. The house I’m in was built in 1962, and we’re almost at 17th St. E. in Riverview.

As for the noise, if it was a roaring/whooshing sound, it’s probably Koch . . .

The plant opened in 1967. Most of the homes around the Riverview school area were built prior to that. Mine was built in 1960.Why the city allowed them to build there is beyond me.
