Just got a call from 1-800-622-6213 saying my SIN number was under "suspension by the Canadian government". WARNING: THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT give your social insurance number over the phone. The Canadian government will always mail you if there is a problem.  
Please remind all your friends, neighbors and colleagues to never give personal information over the phone to anybody calling your number. Not even a survey.

I just got a voice automated message from 2045146255 saying something about my sin number and that if I ignore the call I’ll be committing a “federal crime” and to press 1 to speak to a federal officer. I pressed 1 and a man with a thick accent and very loud background noise asked me for my name so he could “pull up my file”. I gave him a name and he said he’s looking at the file and now he needs my address at which point I hung up.  
I don’t know how these people got my number but I really hope I don’t get any more calls like that.

I also received the same scam call, but, it was from a local number, 204-726-6170.

Probably none of the numbers is actually the one they are calling from. They are able to spoof the numbers to anything they wish and seemingly the telecoms people are unable to block a spoofed call.  
If it is not a number or name we know we just let it go to answering machine then delete without bothering to listen, most times no message is left.
