Hi, I've been wanting to quilt for sometime now and with winter coming-looking for a hobby. I am new to this and am needing some help. I do have a sewing machine and know how to sew but beyond that not much else for quilting. What are some of the essentials I would need? Are there any good websites that I can purchase fabric and supplies? I have a pattern in mind, designed for a newbie... so I should get along ok.

I'm sure they will be able to help, there is also a quilt guild in Brandon that they would put you in touch with.  
There are also quilt clubs/guilds in Neepawa and Gladstone and I'm sure probably in Souris.  
There is also a quilt shop in Morden/Winkler if you are that way.

I started with a quilted Bag, it's smaller than a quilt and they are cute!  
I also started with Jelly Rolls, as they are pre cut and good to go.

Momma bears quilt shop moved to 707 Rosser Ave. The ladies there are very knowledgeable and helpful. Not sure if the are open during code red though.

Yes, they are open for curbside and over the phone. I just picked up fabric and detailed instructions from there the other day!!

Start with the basics and expand your tools later. My favorites are  
45mm Olfa Rotary cutter  
12 x 18 cutting mat (or bigger, they are $$)  
6x24 ruler  
3x8 is handy Quilt Sense makes a nice one  
9" square is handy  
Good iron  
A walking foot for your machine is nice to have.  
There is a Facebook group Quilting For Beginners which has lots of good info for new and old quilters.
