Tonight at north end mall the following happened: loaded groceries in back hatch suv, crawled into car about to start it and ..suddenly heard something hit car, saw blonde woman at back passenger side. I started opening door to go ask what was she doing.  
Luckily, before I fully opened door and stepped out, I glanced back on driver's side. Male with dark hoodie rushing up, I got door slammed and locked. Not sure if they wanted purse, car? I m a senior that doesn't look intimidating. Please watch yourselves.

Hope that you are alright . Hope that you already have or are going to report this incident to the police.

What exactly would she be reporting to the police?? That she saw a man in a dark hoodie?  
 
Did she maybe accidently bump in to your car and they were going to apologize? Did they attempt to open the door and take your purse? Did you lock the door and just drive away? What was concerning? It's good to be aware and alert but I don't understand what exactly the warning is for...

you are ok. Glad you came forward to warn that there might be people scoping out people in the parking lots. Whether or not it was accidental or intentional or more, this town is safer than some, yet has changed in some not good ways over the years. Hopefully it was just a accident and no ill intent.

I 'm okay, just glad that I tend to be aware of surroundings. Don't think I misunderstood intent, male grabbed doorhandle but I had locked it already.

wow he grabbed the doorhandle, ok probably missed that in your post, I'm sorry for not reading that clearly. Ya then his intent wasn't good.

Any suspicious behaviour (or what you feel might be suspicous) that you see or experience should be reported to the police. No need to call emergency, the regular phone line will do. If there are a number of similar claims made, the police have more information to work with. If it was just some accidental bump, no harm done.

I am glad you had your wits about you, and you are ok. The police may be able to check out security cameras on this incident and identify these people. There are always opportunists on these large parking lots even in this weather. Heads up at all times people.
