Because of high priority on user experience, eBrandon doesn't allow popup ads... either through ads sold direct to our fine advertisers that support this site or the ads that are placed after being purchased through the Google Ads system. They would annoy me, I know they'd annoy the userbase and I know that advertisers wouldn't want that level of annoyance associated with their brands either. Ads are placed in spots that are by design noticeable by users so that advertisers get value for what they pay for and users notice something that might be of interest to them.... yet with careful thought to make sure they arent intrusive. If you're seeing popups it'll be connected to something related to your computer itself, which is something I recommend talking to an independent IT support person about to ensure you computer is clean of malware and such.
As far as ad blockers on legit ads, I'll be honest. If everyone had them installed, I'd probably not operate the site. It costs money, takes dedicated time to run and pays us for doing so. A point is made in not being greedy with how much is charged and how many ads are plastered all over the place, often turning down a chance to make more money because we're happy with the business side of the site, with advertiser and audience relationships and that balance with usability.
While the huge huge majority of advertisers are on this exact same wavelength and understand and respect that balance, I have rejected ads in the past that go just a step too far in pushing the line from being noticable to being distracting (including through the Google system where I have the option to filter out specific ads). I want advertisers to get their value, but if you ever notice an ad that you feel pushes this line please dont hesitate to let me know and I will assess!
