Wondering if a daybed would be a good option for extra bed for company occasionally but also used for sofa I have a small apartment so space is limited and I have stairs something along the lines of assembling probably best bed would be for a adult I was thinking a twin size .

Click clack couch which is similar to a futon but a bit sturdier. Or a futon or a pull out. There are a few available on here and Facebook market.

We like this one from IKEA. Cushions are surprisingly strong, especially when double stacked in couch mode. The bed it pulls out into is pretty big. Only thing is if using as a primary couch you’ll want to figure out what you use as backing since the wood at the back isn’t especially comfy to lean against. We got some great big pillows:
