What's the excuse for not cutting the boulevards ? city sure looks shabby like Brandon does not care .  
are the wood ticks hanging out there ?

If it’s in front of a residence it’s their job to cut it per bylaw this was just seen that post on POB Facebook page

Boulevards are highway departments responsible on 1, Vic, 18th and Richmond

Looking west at the corner of 20th street and Victoria in Brandon, A person can hardly see west to check for traffic.

Maybe we haven't paid enough taxes LOL!

Seems like the landscape company hired to mow along the Kirkaldy boulevard next to Home Depot has instructed their mowers to mow around or else overtop of any garbage rather than stop to pick it up. This week City of Brandon was watering flower pots after all the rain but the weeds along side them are a disgrace . Need to add that it is VERY distracting to drivers to have someone stretched out prone in the median atthe corner of Kirkaldy and 18th!

did the city hire any summer students ?

I have a feeling the city has told the province this year that they are no longer interested in mowing the provincial road boulevards, because for as long as I remember the city has always mowed the boulevards on 18th street, Victoria, 1st street. This year their only doing them until the province hires a private contractor. Maybe there's issues with pricing or manpower too. I know some city departments are short staffed at the moment.

City Management needs to be held accountable for the poor conditions and basic services provided to tax payers. Roads, grass cutting, garbage pickup, all basic stuff being done terribly.  
 
I can't be the only one who thought that letter from the city manager was just a bunch of hot air and non sense. Imagine performing this poorly in a private company, you'd be toast.  
 
Cut all the extra bs and focus on providing basic city services. Probably too many managers and not enough actual workers. Could be wrong, but the city looks like trash.

I have an unpopular opinion, but back in late May/early June, I actually liked the long grass. It looked intentional, like prairie grass. I would be okay with the wide medians on Victoria getting restored to natural prairie like other communities are doing. More drought resistant too (although that doesn't seem to be an issue this year lol)..  
 
I can see how that's not everyone's cup of tea, and I agree mowed-but-often-enough just looks unkept. But there was a beauty to it being long-long!

I hope bylaw enforcement is on top of this. It's across from a school yard. Who knows what wild animals are lurking in that deep scrub. Probably find a stolen bike or two as well!

so people should know if you have a concern that is covered under a bylaw . bylaw is mostly complaint driven. If you do not report a issue you are concerned about suggest you report the issue.  
 
Blvds on streets that are considered provincial highways are the responsibility of manitoba highways. it was reported that they failed to put out a tender for a private company to maintain them . Based on that the city was going to do it as it is a eye sore within the city. The plan was to come to an arrangement to compensate the city for these services. It should be noted that unfortunately this is not only a city of brandon issue as the grass between headingly and winnipeg a week ago was over 3 ft high.
