Babies Become Trendy?
10/30/2008 at 8:38 PM
I was told this weekend, that the trend is having babies, along with having large families.(married or not)
With some of the active discussions,it feels like the "right" to have a baby out weighs the responsibility to be financially fit to have a family let alone a large family.(5 or 6 kids)
I know in my case, I was married at 18 and three kids by the time I was 22. We weren't close to being in the financial position to raise three kids. BUT...we knew the different between WANTS and NEEDS,struggled through without help from outside sources.
I think what scares me is the sense of entitlement for outside help in order to have the designer clothes, trips, cable etc.
Do you think this trend is caused by the shows like " John & Kate plus 8" (which I love watching) as well as the ones with 17 kids ? There are a few of those shows which may give a false sense of doability?
I'm just trying to understand where this trend is coming from.
