Decluttering ...Wasteful or well-done?

I am so addicted to shoes it's not funny. LOL At least that's what my poor husband who has no closet space says! I went through and cleaned out my closet and found these 17 years old leather boots. You must see those boots - They look like old pointy toe'd high top golashes:

They have been sitting for over 10 years on the bottom of my closet. Shameful. I cringed several times. I think it's common sense to donate lightly worn shoes in excellent condition. Our church actually takes donations yearly that go to children in Mexico who literally do not own shoes. Yeah, I definitely donate there. But, old, worn, impractical shoes? Nope. They're not worth the effort or cost it would take someone else to sort through them! From I understand the waste bill of those places is already huge enough. And while I do a lot of clothing donations, those old boots went into the big black garbage bag and I dropped a pile of waste on top. Alone the germs ....Ewwwww!!! I am a donator by all means, but those 17 years old leather boots were definitely garbage. Yuck! ...in this case unhygienic gross domestic waste and NOT donation items. I am correct? Wasteful or well-done?
