Duvets and goose down pillows

I want to clean my husband's duvet and pillows but I'm too cheap to take them to the dry cleaners. (LOL!) I was thinking of running them through the washing machine and then tumble drying them, with a clean pair of runners, in the dryer. Does anyone have any ideas?
