Singing bowls

I was downtown today and stopped by Ten Thousand Villages, as I've always admired their wares and really appreciate the 'Fair Trade' they espouse.
I came across something I've never seen before: singing bowls from Nepal. Each bowl is supposedly made from between 3 to 8 different types of metal, the reasoning behind this is that each metal has its own resonance, and when the bowl is played, it creates a wonderful tune. To play the bowl, you can either strike it softly with the wooden mallet, or rub the mallet along the rim of the bowl, much like you would rub your finger along the rim of crystal stemware.
I was quite enthralled by these! Depending on the size of the bowl, the pitch can be quite high or quite low...I ended up buying the largest there, but would actually love to hear an even larger one.
Is anyone else in Brandon a fan of these? As I understand it, they're great for meditation.
