I dug up an old thread and was going to post on it because the saga continues ... but for most of you, you won't know what I mean so if you are at all interested here is the link to the previous thread

I would have thought that by now the coincidences of my book "New Beginnings" would have ended but still they continue. This one doesn't really have anything to do with the story line except that it concerns the part of the book that takes place in Montreal. Way back in 2002-3 I wrote to The Windsor Hotel in Montreal (I didn't have internet then) for any information they could give me about the hotel in 1882. Someone there wrote back and sent a lot of photocopies for me, some of newspaper articles from the 1800's (if I remember correctly - they were carefully put away and of course I have forgotten where!!!). This is probably my favourite chapter of the novel and now that it is in book form I wanted to send a copy to Le Windsor, which is now ballrooms and offices. Sadly the part of the hotel that is talked about in the book burned to the ground, but the addition remained.
About a year and a half ago I met a woman through the Real-Age website (in fact met 3 and we communicate very often and get along wonderfully). Michele lives in Gatineau and is retired from working at the National Archives in Ottawa and is flawlessly bilingual and has helped me communicate with newly found relatives in France (a whole different topic!!!). Back in June she accompanied her daughter to Winnipeg to babysit her new granddaughter and while she was so close by she came out to Westman and we had a great time together. As her daughter lives in Montreal I asked her if she would mind dropping off a copy of my book to Le Windsor next time she was there and she was very happy to do so. (Gosh I have a hard time writing short!!! LOL) ... I emailed Le Windsor and received word back from the Sales and Marketing Director. Everything was a go and the book was to be dropped off at the security desk - the guard would be told of its arrival.
I received word back from Michele just the other day. The package was sitting on the desk in her daughters home, with delivery instructions on it. Michele's son-in-law asked about it as he knows the Sales and Marketing Director of Le Windsor very well and he now works in a building where the Windsor was before it burnt. He is going to deliver the package by hand.
When you live in Brandon it is one thing to know the person a stranger asks about - still probably very rare though - but in Montreal!!! I am truly flabbergasted ... again!!!
