LCD OR PLASMA

I am going to buy a new tv in the next week or so, looking at a 50"-52" flat screen. would you recommend LCD or Plasma?
I will likely be buying Samsung or Toshiba, as they seem to have the best ratings, i am just on the fence as to buy lad or plasma.
