Scent of Home - How do you make your home smell nice?

I love to make my home smell nice. Over the years I've spent a small fortune on plug ins, sprays, candles, etc. My home is clean, but I just love walking in to a good smell.
I was surfing the net and found some good ways to scent your home with simmering spices as well as homemade 'Febreeze'.
Can I ask any ebrandoners what tips you can share that you use to scent your home, particularly at Christmas when friends and family stop by at a moments notice and you don't want last nights supper to be lingering?
