What good are some warranties?

First of all, no I am not nuts, and curiosity has been bugging me for over 10 years.
When my Dad died and we were at the funeral home making arrangements, I found it very odd that you could purchase a casket with 30 year warranties on the head and foot mechanisms.
Why is there such a warranty and who is going to dig it up just to see if it still works or should it need warranty repairs?
I am just curious about weird things by nature I guess and hope maybe someone could answer my off the wall question.
