Kind words

About a month ago I started a disscussion in regards to laundry mat bullies lol. Well today I had to go to the same place and finish up some laundry. I went there feeling like I was going to be pushed around by laundy mat gang and this time came prepared with some smart ass comments and a pocket full of quarters. Ready to jump on any man woman or child that lifted my lids or stalked the dryers.
But today was different. There was a woman in there and she was simply a wonderful person to talk to, she talked small talk with me but not enough to drive a person crazy. Upon leaving she touched my arm and said directly to me, Have a great New Year and all the best. I was stunned, There was also a lonely old man in there and was waiting so quitely for his clothes to dry, I later found out his wife had recently passed and he was a laundry virgin. She always did that he stated to me. HE was sitting there staring at the floor when i noticed his dryer stopped so I went around the coner and told him. HE shook my hand and said, Happy New Year, may health and wealth find you in 2010. Again I was speechless. So I have to say with the nice old woman and the humble old fellow you gave me the greatest Christmas gift and start to the new Year in great spirits. Thank you for your simple kindness. To top it off the woman behind the counter made a special effort to get my attention as I was leaving. She said Happy New Year. I left with a smile and a litle reflection on my own behavior when I first walked in.
